Heyas all, just a query, I remember a few years back, adverts about the eye drops to "refresh your tired eyes "

Well, I'm after something of such ilkage! :) Starting work at 8am my eyes feel knackered, whether I go to bed at 9pm or 3am my eyes simply will not wake up, I feel fine, not a problem body wise and don't feel tired, but my eyes just feel, well, knackered! So sleepy and keep wanting to shut! I'm willing to try anything, including funky zingy eye drops to take the morning blues away!

I've heard some bad things about them not being good for your eyes, but I have no experience with them at all, does/has anyone use/used them? And if so, how do you find them, and which would you recommend?

Cheers :)

An obvious question, but have you tried showering or going for a jog before work? If the first doesn't wake you up, the second definately will. Even better, it means you will go to bed earlier, so will get more sleep :)

Not what you were after, just some obvious advice.

Why does everyone always open their mouth when they're putting in eye drops?

On a more serious note, if your eyes seem too dry, then maybe you should visit your GP.

You should probably check with your optician or GP before buying eyedrops, it could be medical or due to something like squinting all day because you need glasses.

My optician recommended Blink drops, and said that a lot of other ones are actually bad for your eyes if used regularly. I doubt she gets paid to say that, as she sent me to Boots to buy them.

I had a serioulsy bad time a couple of months ago with my eyes. I couldn't even read. I've no idea what caused it, and it wasn't an infection, but some supermarket eyedrops really helped. I don't care if it was placebo effect or otherwise, it worked!

I tried two types, optrex I think, one was for tired eyes, one was to refresh. Both seemed fine.

I get quite bad hayfever which makes my eyes itchy. Got some Boots "Hayfever Relief" eye drops and they're brilliant.

Also have the Optrex refreshing ones which I use occasionally.

Uhhh, wtf. Obviously you're just not getting enough sleep. Either that or you're not getting good quality sleep for some reason, or it could be a cominbation of those factors and other things like diet and lifestyle. You should not be resorting to eye drops to resolve this problem.

Thanks for that guys, mostly I do get enough sleep and feel fine in myself, it could just be down to the on/off hayfever I assume, so I'll pop into Boots at the weekend, have a word see what they'd suggest I think. :)

Kittens, calm down ;)

Why does everyone always open their mouth when they're putting in eye drops?

When putting drops in you tend to tilt your head back, oppening your mouth reduces the strain on the front of your neck/throat.

Try tillting your head back with your mouth closed, then open it!
