had my eyes tested this morning. well its been about 7 years since my last test, and work pay for the exam anyway, so i thought why not.

anyway, its all changed a bit since my last exam. went to vision express.

luckily my eyes are fine and i dont need anything.

how often do you have your eyes tested, and have they ever found something that potentually has saved you life?

I had a letter through a few days back saying that I needed a check-up as I haven't been for 2 years. Suppose I should go, my eyes are pretty bad...

I had my eyes tested last about 2 years ago. I noticed my eyes had trouble focusing sometimes when reading or using the computer and even when just generally out and about.

Optician there said i am very very very slightly long-sighted and the probably reason for my dodgy focusing is due to being tired - Im the kind of person who stays up all night and then gets up early lol.

Wouldnt say its saved my life, but I never have trouble focusing anymore as I tend to sleep much better than I used to.

I have my eyes checked every year or so, I have to wear glasses constantly otherwise I get distorted vision... I have a stigmitism in my right eye (basically a mishaped eye) and they told me that I have to wear glasses to correct a few other problems in that eye...

I get mine checked every 2 years, or sooner if I think my eyesight has got worse and i think i might need a new prescrpition.

Cant remember ever having an optician eyetest.. [aged 19]

Last 'test' was when i got some hot coal in my eye a few years ago.. but that was more to check i could actually still use it and how the other one was compensating i think..

Does reading those AHJFK sheets constitute a proper eye test?

not really. the one i had today consisted of looking at a hotair balloon in the distance while the computer did some funky stuff. then reading letters, looking at lights and wearing funny glasses just so he could laugh at me.

They also check your peripheral vision now with multiple lights flashing. Last time i had my eyes tested was about 2 years ago, i have had them done every few years.

I doubt anything wrong with your eyes can kill you lol!

My optician found I had detached my retina before I had any symptoms and probably saved me from having reduced vision in that eye, so its worth going.

havent had it done for about a good 3-4 years lol

Cant be bothered frankly since I dont think its changed and it hadnt last time I checked either....

Either way im saving up for laser treatment.... but ill do the max 3k option one cos I dont wanna chance anything with my eyes....+ the 3k one says its better for night use+ you only get 1 set of eyes in your life !

I try to have a test every 2/3 years, and get a new pair at the same time, with another pair of prescrition sunglasses too. I have to pay for it myself but it's not that expensive, £20 every 2 years is very reasonable.

The full test is quite comprehensive - you should get flashing lights shone at you and puffs of air in your eye too.

That's a Field Test, just to check your perifill vision. You'd be suprised what they can pick up with just that one test.... Brain Tumors are a popular one :D
