Eyefinity 3+1 setup question

Hi Guys,

There seems to be a lot of AMD know-how here so I thought I would try for some help. I have just rebuillt my rig after my G1 Sniper 5 mainboard died :( and am now using the Gigabyte Z97x Gaming GT mainboard. I went for this board because I have a custom pedestal desk build with a dual R290 watercooled setup and it has the same physical PCIe layout.

My cards drive 3 1080p monitors via 2DVI and 1HDMI cables. Everything was working absolutely fine before with the latest Omega14.12 drivers.

I cannot get Eyefinity working on the new rig. All three monitors are detected and displayed. Catalyst control allows me to run through the setup procedure but when the settings are being saved, the window keeps flashing. Killing the process works and the rest of the system is stable, but rebooting just gives blank screens (OS is loaded, Windows welcome sound plays, but no video). If I pull the HDMI out, the other two displays usually reconfigure then the whole game starts again.

My initial thoughts are that it is some conflict with the integrated graphics and disabling them in the BIOS has saved me from several previous BSOD.

OS is an absolutely clean install of Win 7 Pro with all patches applied, but I am now running out of ideas.

Looking through this thread it seems that I may want to get the integrated graphics working as well at some point in the future because my desk is right next to my TV and it would be good to get that working too.

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

In the Device Manager there is a highlighted High Definition Audio Controller that has failed to start. Location is PCI Slot 16 (PCI bus 4, device 0, function 1). Could this be linked to the problem?

I'd leave integrated graphics disabled for now while fiddling.

Since its a new rig, did you have eyefinity running on this rig before upgrading to 15.3? If not, we can't be sure it's the drivers, it could be an issue with the mboard.

Assuming it is the drivers though, here's what I would do: do a full clean uninstall of the drivers, reboot, and then start over. It could be something is corrupted in your setup.

I have completely uninstalled the AMD CCM using the Guru3D Display Driver Uninstaller and set everything up using the Intel 4600 graphics. I then used the AMD Autodetect software to install the 14.12 package without DotNet4.5.

Plugging in the HDMI detected the display fine, then I used CCM to add the additional (DVI) displays. I was able to get all three monitors working as an extended desktop.

So far, so good, but when I attempted to combine the three displays into an Eyefinity desktop it ran the wizard then finished with the message 0 displays combined into 0 desktop. After this the CCM went back to its flashing behaviour. I am nearly ready to take an axe to this thing

Thanks for the advice. I have already done about 5 clean installations but it always falls down at the same point. I don't usually use beta drivers but I am going to give the 15.13 a try

The 15.13 driver actually seems to be working. I have had this experience with AMD before. Their driver upgrades often break eyefinity then get fixed in the next release. So frustrating!

I'm sorry to hear that. As a counter-example, I've been using eyefinity since the 5850 release, and the only issue I've ever had with it across many drivers is the fact that switching between eyefinity and extended mode isn't as smooth as I'd like.
