Eyefinity 3 monitors

Hi,

I have three of these:

And these two graphics cards crossfired:

At the moment, I have 2 plugged in with DVI cables and 1 with HDMI to DVI (HDMI is plugged into graphics card).

These are all plugged into the HIS ATI Radeon HD 6870.


I have managed to set-up eyefinity with 2 of the monitors, but after reading some places, it seems I need a active display port or something?

Is there anyway to create a 3 monitor eyefinity set-up with these components?

I've looked around and googled quite a bit.

Just need someone to clear it up for me as I'm lost at the moment.

Yes. You need an active displayport adapter. Sapphire do one for about £17.

• Mix Eyefinity - AMD's Eyefinity is enabled via HDMI without using expensive Display Port monitors and Active Adapters. Eyefinity is also enabled via HDMI to DVI adaptor.

It's just working out how to do it.

As mentioned by ALXAndy, you need a active DP adaptor.
Do a shopping search for "active single link displayport adaptor".

My main graphics card does not have one, it only has a mini display port, would a converter for that work?

Well if it's a custom card you own (like the one you linked to) then I can't help you. I am just going on the standard procedure with standard Radeon 6970s. Is that the one you own?

If so then contact the company who makes the cards dude.

But I use this as my primary card.

I believe I can use a mini display port to DVI.

According to AMD's site anyway.

You can as long as you use an active miniDP to DVI adapter.

A passive one won't work.

Or if you have a miniDP to DP adapter you can plug a DP to DVI active adapter into that.

Yes, the active single link display port adaptors come in two types: normal sized DP and mini-DP.
