Hey

Well as the title says in the AMD VISION engine control center it can only recognise 2 of my displays, it only see's the 2 monitors running on the dvi ports on my 6950, my third monitor is on and active display port to dvi.

Here's what CCC is showing.

Thanks!

Yea, so long as the third monitor is 1920x1200@60Hz or less then that should work fine.

Have you tried swapping over the connections to see if you have an issue with the adapter or a monitor?

Also, would you be able to remove that competitor link (maybe just replace it with the make and model number of the item).

Oops sorry! iv removed the link and ill just go do those tests and get back to you.

Ok, so i swapped the cable from the DP to DVI and plugged that into one of the monitors that was working before and then plugged the DVI into the one that wasn't and now the one on the DP to DVI line is not working and cannot be recognised.

Ah, well at least all the monitors seem to be working. From that test it seems like the sapphire adapter is not working correctly. Have you been able to get a picture out of it at all (you could try only connecting the adapter and monitor and no monitors over the native DVI/HDMI).

May I ask what your particular model HD 6950 is?

Sounds like an adapter issue. What you're experiencing is what happens when you have no adapter plugged in so the card can only see 2 monitors, any chance you have another adapter available to test?

Are you sure? when i just use one screen running off the adapter it works fine, and i only have a spare passive one. :(

From what you are saying it sounds like the adapter is acting as if it were a passive one - ie. it will work as a first or second display, but won't function to drive a third (where the active DP to DVI conversion is required).

Probably best contacting the retailer you bought the adapter from and tell them of the problem. The adapter does appear to be the issue as it isn't performing as it should - therefore you are entitled to a working replacement.

+1.

Even if the conversion wasn't working it would work on 1/2 screens as andi said.

Did you get the adapter free with the card or did you straight purchase it? I used Startech ones that came with my cards and they worked the 2nd they plugged in so if I were you I'd contact the seller about it!
