eyefinity/display port adaptor problem

im trying to run a 3 monitor eyefinity setup using 2x5870s i bought a passive display port adaptor (dp to dvi) and was assured this would work but im buggered if i can get it to work with all 3 monitors.
they are all connected to 1 card and crossfire is enabled
ccc seems to recognise that theres 3 monitors connected and the mouse disappears into the other monitor but the display just says check signal cable.
all 3 monitors are 1920x1200 res btw (and all 3 work)
 
Passive adapters are usually used for Macs from my understanding, as their ports can convert it to DVI signals.

OcUK did have some active ones in stock, but I can't seem to find them :(. There was a MiniDP->DVI one for around £25 odd. You might have to search around for a bit, just make sure the adapter's active.
 
thanks for that iv just found it and mine looks an awefull lot like that! mine might actually be an active 1 all it says on is active now im really confused lol

ps now its randomly come on when i plugged it back in but gone off again after a minute or so and throws a connector/lead fault error messege at me this has happened 6-7 times

my adaptor hasnt got a seperate usb/power lead so i cant check that i guess the 5870 has adequate power output?
i dont think id class it as blinking/flashing it goes off throws an error messege and wont come back on unless i pull the lead then reconnect

i think the adaptor itself is buggered iv long since lost the receipt (despite never having used it before) il have to buy another 1
