So I have just got a new work pc with a vtx3d 7770 xtreme gfx card in it. On the back it has the following connectors:

2x dvi
1 dp
1 hdmi

so i am trying to get eyefinity work and for the love of all that is holy I can't get the third monitor enabled.

I am using windows 7 64bit with the latest cat drivers.

I have tried a dp adapter that we had for another machine (This works fine when only one dvi/hdmi connector is used but as soon as the second (dvi/hdmi) connection is used the third monitor refuses to power up.

So I have had a bit of a google and it seems that I need an active adapter which may solve my problem.

If this is the case then will this work for me:

Thanks in advance.

thanks for the confirmation guys. have brought one and an external hdd so should be getting those tomorrow.

Was close to getting a monitor as well but i had to restrain myself from such a large purchase.

Oh well at least I will be able to have a four monitor setup tomorrow after I have nabbed another spare monitor from IT Support :)

3 on the ati card one on the z77 built in gfx. Oh can the built in gfx card support multi monitors as well? Must go and check.

Why do you say brought? Thats like i brought the shopping in from the car not bought it at asda? just a thing that annoys me sorry lol.

What desk do you use with all these screens? It seems buying the desk will be pretty expensive also?

Long day (brain not engaged). :)

I am just using a standard curved office desk at the moment it should have enough space for me to have 4 monitors at the very least.

Three of the monitors will be setup for my development work as follows:

1) Visual Studio
2) Sql Management Studio
3) Test screen

The fourth will have normal office apps like word, excel, outlook, browser etc.

If I can attach a fifth then this will be in portrait mode for e-books and pluralsight training material.
