Is there a reason why everyone seems to choose a 3 wide by 1 tall landscape orientated eyefinity setup, rather than 3 wide by 1 tall portrait? Is it just that it gives a more imersive experience? As it seems that if in portrait, the screens are almost the same aspect ratio as a single landscape monitor, so is more like just a huge screen.

lol, most probably prefer to see what is left right than what is behind them eheh. I would want a normal view. 2 2 sided monitors.

I was meaning most people have their setup like this:
3x1landscape.jpg

but why not like this:
3x1portrait.jpg

the bezel size is larger in proportion to width when they are in portrait than in landscape

also most monitors don't have the option for portrait mode

I didn't think about the bezels  and if I do an eyefinity setup, I've got monitor arms, so that's not a problem as long as the monitor has vesa mounts.

Personally, I would buy an eyefinity setup to have the landscape setup. If I wanted the portrait setup, I would purchase a decent 30" monitor. That make any sense?

^ however a 30" would have a higher pixel density and cost less when it comes to both energy cost and starting cost unless you were going to use LED and/or TN panel screens in which case the 30" would give you better picture quality instead

it does, however you get a higher resolution with 3 portrait monitors than with a 30" monitor.

Yes, and 2 black lines. Its weird, as when I look at landscape eyefinity, I almost ignore the lines, but potrait just distracts me. It must be something to do with my eyes FoV or something.

Twisted Nematic monitors also have relatively poor vetical viewing angles that will translate into noticeable horizontal issues in a portrait 'wide' eyefinity setup. If you are using such monitors this is something to consider.

That's quite interesting to know actually, although I guess mostly expected.
