I've decided that I want to upgrade from my current lg w2363d, but I've been wanting to upgrade the resolution a bit from my current single 1080p setup and I've managed to narrow my options down to two (I think)

The first option is to get either three of these:

Or get three of these:

I like the idea of having three nice ips panel monitors, but I'm worried that 60hz and higher input lag when compared to my current 120hz w2363d.

My other option is to get one of the acer 4k2k monitors even though I won't be able to use the gsync features with my r9 290x

I need some opinions on what I should get :)

Why the Acer? Others like the Samsung use the same panel and are now cheaper

Having tried a 3 screen setup, i would say I prefer a decent single screen as lots of games have support issues with multi screen

I ran surround for over a year, was great for a while.

It's awesome for racing games etc, but I found it too much in fps games.( too much going on) if that makes sense.

Tried 4K and now I have the ROG Swift.(very happy)

So for me single screen every time.

From the reviews that I've seen, the Samsung has had a few problems, and I'd like it to have a VESA mount on it too which the acer has, I also like the idea of being able to have gsync capabilities if I decide to swap my 290x out for an nvidia card :)

I'd love to get the rog swift but its too much for me to pay for a single monitor

I've been running Eyefinity for a few years now and absolutely love it. It's great for gaming as your entire vision is filled by the game, and it's a real wow factor when people see your PC.

But, I am currently very tempted to ditch the three and get a single 4k monitor. Why? Simply because of lack of game support. When a game works on 3 monitors, it's epic (Just Cause 2, Sleeping Dogs, Sniper Elite V2, Burnout Paradise, Half Life/L4D/Portal, Goat Simulator, Titanfall excluding the HUD). The problem I have is with the sheer number of AAA developers/publishers who feel it's fine to release games even now that don't support more then one monitor (any Call of Duty game, Watch Dogs, Wolfenstein, Titanfall's HUD). I know there are a couple of wonderful people who produces fixes and workarounds where they can, such as Flawless Widescreen or Widescreen Fixer, but there are often still issues around menus, cutscenes, or HUDs.

I love my Eyefinity setup, and several of my family members have now got 3 screens after playing on mine, but with 4K now down to reasonable prices and the developers and manufacturers seeming to get behind it better than most ever did with Eyefinity/Surround - I would say currently the best option is to get a single 4K monitor.

How about the 29" or 34" LG widescreens?

I was considering one of those, but I wasn't sure about how it'd look with 16:9 content? I thought the 29" would look like a 23", but the 34" models are quite a lot :(

Tbh I never thought about game support with three monitors, so that is another thing to consider

I always check http://www.wsgf.org/ for any games I'm considering buying to see if they support multi-monitor or not. I know I can always switch to playing on a single monitor with only two mouse clicks if a game doesn't support multi-monitor, but I find this galling and annoying - it feels a bit like being forced to wear blinkers when playing a game. :D

EDIT - Off topic, but correction to my post above - WSGF's thread on Titanfall says the multi-monitor HUD issues were actually fixed at the end of June. Guess what I'll be playing tonight now. :)

It would annoy me a little to be swapping between three monitors and a single one just to play different games

Anyone know of any similarly priced 24" va panel monitors? They seem to be a bit of a medium between ips and tn to me :)

I have 3 x Dell 2407s that I use for Eyefinity, I would prefer a 21:9 3440 x 1440 34" (or greater) single screen.

I'm trying to decide whether the increase in res etc from a 29" lg to a 34" lg is worth the increase in price from £260 to £500

I went from triple screens to the Samsung U28D590 and loved it. Sold that and got the Acer 4K G-Sync on order now :)

I found it too much for gaming in truth but was great for working.

Has anyone went from a 120hz+ monitor to one of the ultra wide ones? Just trying to see whether I'd notice the input lag or the refresh rate drop
