Hi All
Looking for a bit of guidance reference an eyefinity setup,
My current hardware =
i5 2500K based system with 2 * 5850's running in crossfire.
These are both matching "MSI ATI Radeon HD 5850 Twin FrozR II 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card" and each card has the following outputs:
1 * Dual-Link DVI-I
1 * HDMI
1 * DisplayPort
The screens concerned are
1 * 30" Dell 3011 (2560 * 1600)
2 * 20" Dell 2007FP (1600 * 1200)
Currently the 30" is in the middle, with a 20" in portrait on either side, the below pic is not mine, but my setup is essentially the same.
Reference Eyefinity across all 3 screens,
1. Using crossfire, can I only connect screens to the "primary" graphics card, am I correct in believing that the outputs on the 2nd card are not active?
2. Can I run crossfire across 3 screens (to play games) which are not all the same res, I noticed on the ATI site the following (Im hoping this is not correct / out of date / there is a way to get round it)
Can I support different resolutions?
All monitors running in a Display Group or cloned modes must be running with the same resolution. If monitors have different native resolutions, the highest common non-native resolution between the monitors will be used when creating Display Groups. Monitors running in extended desktop mode can have independent resolutions.
3. If I can run eyefinity across all 3 screens, am I correct in beliving I will require an active DP -> DVI adaptor? (The question here is more passive or active adaptor)
Your thoughts / comments welcomed...........
Peter
