Ohayo!

In few upcoming days I'll be ordering all the remaining parts for my new system, and I rather double check that I am making the right choices.
First of all I'm listing few things I already own:

  • 3 x Dell U2312HM
  • Creative Titanium HD
  • AKG K242HD
  • Razer Mamba
  • Razer Vespula
  • Logitech X-540
  • Samsung F3 1TB
  • +Other crap...

And this is what I will be probably getting:

  1. Intel i7 3930K - Now you might ask if I do any heavy stuff, the answer is no. I do have dSLR camera, and I will play with Photoshop or some video editing, but for that 2600K would be way enough. So the reason I'm looking at 3930K is 6-cores, more futureproof, and I will run heavy GPU on it.
  2. Asus Rampage IV Extreme - Design, and PCI spacing. I will be able to fit in 3 GPU with my soundcard. So when HD7990 comes out, it will be QuadCF.
  3. Corsair Dominator 1866Mhz 16GB - Yeah, overkill, but it's X79!
  4. Corsair H100
  5. Corsair 800D - So many people have it... I want to be unique... good case tho.
  6. Corsair 1200AX - Well, X79; 2 GPU. In future QuadCF, Water Coolig.
  7. Crucial M4 128GB
  8. Sapphire HD7970 x2 - Good for eyefinity, from what I've seen and heard.
  9. Logitech G510 - Can you access BIOS with this keyboard? I've seen people having problems with it.
  10. Samsung DVD Blu-Ray

Total for everything is about £2600. Now, my concern is if I should take i5 2500k instead of 3930k and get another HD7970 for EF gaming, or just leave it as it is(2xHD7970 + 3930K) and wait for HD7990.
The bad thing about Z68 setup is that I can fit only 2 GPU and the soundcard on the mobo. Which means if I would like to add another GPU in the future I won't be able to do that because of it, so I will have to either remove the soundcard or just stick with 2 GPU.

Any advices?

1) largely irrelevant IMO
2) Design is personal, spacing can be crucial, if you did decide to step down to 1155 platform, there is the maximus IV which is EATX which may be worth a look, though its still very expensive so not sure how much you would save
3) Not really, its so cheap ATM why not
4) I dont rate enclosed watercoolers personally, IMO either stick with decent air cooler or do it properly and go custom
5) Yep nice case
6) Excellent PSU (I have 750W version)
7) fine
8) I doubt youd need 3, but havent tried eyefinity myself but as you allude to these cards are meant to excellent at such high res's
9) Not sure, think theres been a few bugs with the new UEFI BIOSes but these are individual to certain KBs with certain mobos, often a BIOS update fixes them
10) -

Basically, I doint think youll gain that much going for a a 2011 system over 1155, but depending on how you judge your need for PCIE spacing a suitable 1155 may not be much cheaper than 2011 anyway, so upto you

All I would say is that, yes 2011 is overkill, but if you can afford it, why not? As far as gfx go, your best bet is either 1 or 2 7970's, 1 will probably be enough, get 2 for the e-peen :) 7990 quadfire will probably cost as much as you're currently willing to spend (well maybe half as much) and is totally pointless, though your e-peen would be huge:P. One final thought, 2011 gets hot, if you're gonna push a decent overclock on that processor, the H100 will just about do the job, but you should really be going down the custom loop route (just get one 7970 for now and spend the saved £500 on custom water).

2. I've checked Asus Maximus IV Extreme-Z long time ago, it will fit 2 GPU & the soundcard, but it will not fit 3rd GPU.
3. Well, true.
4. I like them because they do not take as much space.

The thing is pcie spacing. X79 motherboards can take 3GPU and a soundcard. 1 card will be enough? For eyefinity, you sure? Because I do not think so. HD7990 will cost about $850 but that's something I will buy in the future.

Eh... HD7970s are still expensive. HD7950 just came out but I don't think they're worth it...
