Eyefinity - What DisplayPort to DVI adapter?

Bought a DVI -> HDMI cable, obviously didn't work, quick google revealed it needed to be DisplayPort.

Bought a DVI -> DisplayPort cable, quite pricey...didn't work.

Google reveals it has to be an active DVI -> DisplayPort adapter.

For ****s sake, this is what I get for no researching things properly.

displayport to dvi is akward to get from what I have seen ATI have a new active mini displayport coming out but not seen it in uk yet and its 30quid

OCUK should look into getting these asap

Don't suppose you've got a link to the product have you?

Basically I've got 3x Samsung 226BW screens.

Two of which are connected via DVI cables to an ATI 5870.

What cable/adapter do I need for the third screen to become active at 1680x1050?

Any help would be appreciated, what do other people use?

I have a Dell DP->VGA and it works great at 1920x1080.

Just about to buy "490-11917 - Dell Active DisplayPort to DVI (Dual Link) Adapter - 1080P Ready" (can't link, competitor - google)

Assuming this is the right piece of kit, as far as I can tell it's just a re-branded version of the Sapphire one.

Is there any noticeable difference in picture quality between straight DVI from the GPU to monitor and DP>VGA?

Will that work fine with 2x DVI Monitors @ 1680x1050?

mine does DVI | DVI | DP-VGA alternatively u can use DVI | HDMI | DP-VGA

Just dont expect smooth sailing with ATI's drivers.

If you want one, I've got one that I was using at 1680x1050 can sell you it via the MM if your interested. My emails in trust as mine works with 5040x1050 - 3 1680x1050 monitors in eyefinity.
