F.E.A.R 2, The official thread.

Pretty good game, im playing it on hard but still feels a little easy still.
Think ill stop playing it now as i think im nearing the end, so ill carry on tomorrow. This game aint scary at all its more action than trying to scare you, but that aint a bad thing:cool:

**MINOR SPOILER**
Im wandering about the school at the moment, pretty good so far.

Not enjoying this. All the intensity of the combat from the original seems to have been lost. Not sure how they managed to do it really but it's gone and it was what made FEAR such a good game. Also feel a bit sick from the constant bouncing up and down as you walk around.

Anyone get any crash to desktops on it? I've only played the first 20 mins, and I got one crash to desktop, I reloaded and got past the bit, and it appears to crash exactly on a save post... so that must have caused it.

Yep. I get it too.

I assume you're using Catalyst 9.1s?

It's the same problem I'm getting in Left 4 Dead - it'll play for ages without any crashes, I could be standing around during a round for 3 hours without a crash then as soon as it comes to loading a new level it'll CTD with a atiumdag.dll error.

Well im a plank, ive had this new sound card for 2 weeks now, and ive only just noticed.

I was wandering around and realised, that it wasn't in proper 5.1, i.e if something was behind me, the sound from it wasnt specifically coming out from the rear speaker(s), so i went into my windows sound properties (on Win 7), and lo and behold, i never configured it to 5.1 in there (i just had it configured to 5.1 through my sound cards Control Panel, which is an Asus Xonar DX 7.1), it was configured as Stereo, so ive now configured it to 5.1 in there as well, and voila. :p

Can't believe ive just noticed that, been playing all me games like that for a fortnight. :D

Cant be that far off from finishing it but damn some of the levels really are good , especially the level just before the powerful experimental weapon

Im on the level after that chamber you get told to step into (3rd interval i think). :)

Hilarious, 2 of them came running in and went for the same concrete pillar, they bumped into each other so i took them out, both fell, with one having his head stuck inside the concrete pillar, and he was shooting into the floor for ages and vibrating about while deed . :D

Just got the napalm cannon (flame thrower jobbie), its ******* hilarious when yer fry them, they run about waving their arms around shouting 'GET IT OFF ME', 'PUT IT OUT' and stuff. :D :D

Completed level: (Withdrawl)after cut scene it goes back to menu instead of going to level called: (Replica)????? puzzled

I've been playing for an hour or so and it looks pretty good, but the movement just doesn't feel right (not as fluid as other games).

I'm pretty annoyed that I can't use all the buttons on my Razer Deathadder too (can't bind side buttons), but hopefully there'll be a fix for this soon.

Anyway, back to the game :)

SPOILERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just had my first scare. The part where you next to the pool in the penthouse, you go through the door which over looks the pool to get the two health injections, when you turn around, she looks at you. I screamed "JESUS CHRIST!!!" so hard that the missus came from the next room to see what was going on. The game is so clever. Just when you are at your most relaxed and think nothing has happened yet, she pounds on you.

I'll check the details next time it does it (I'm sure it will) as last time I just closed it and booted it right up again :)

Yeah I'm on 9.1, so I assume it will be a similar crash.

I think I'm a bit inoculated to the scary bits now.....but the last thing I've played that was this intense was STALKER last year. It really grabs you by the cahones.

Shame the armoured ninja things aren't in it, I loved those from the original FEAR. The escaped mental patient crawlers do the same thing but aren't as cool.
