Not sure. I'd need to buy FEAR again as I sold my copy after i'd finished it.

Why couldnt they make it standalone?

Because that would defeat the point of an expansion pack.

The problem for me is that the demo was too short to give any real taste of what the dev's are trying to do with the game

I dunno, it seemed to cover most of it. Its exactly the same, except they made the assassins much harder to see (and imo are better armoured too).

Not complaining though, Fear is one of my favourite games

To be fair though, now that most games are coming on DVDs, the costs of providing a standalone game wouldn't really be any higher than that of an expansion pack I'd imagine. You just strip out all the content (levels/textures/audio etc) from the original game.

Dawn of War: Dark Crusade is a good example of an 'expansion pack' which has been sold as a standalone full game.

Ive pre-ordered my copy today

, wasn't my fav game but i enjoyed playing it. Plus there hasnt been many FPS games released for a while so this will give me something to play while i wait for Episode 2 :cool:

How many hours of gameplay do you think this will give? As the main reason I didnt buy HL2:E1 was of the short lifespan.

Didn't even realise there was a FEAR expansion in the works...

I liked FEAR so yeah, sure, I'll buy it. Why not.

I think I'll wait a couple of weeks until I get a new graphics card though. I played through on my 7800GTX and although it was certainly playable, there were plenty of slowdown areas. I'm hoping to pick up an 8800 on Nov 8th, so hopefully this should have a bit more luck with it!

Fear is the best game I've played in recent yeaars and have played it all the way through numerous times. I don't care if the addon is more of the same, I just want it to be slightly different so it will make me jump again. I've got to the stage with FEAR that I reconise every area and it doesn't have the same thrill anymore.
Plus that minigun is pure sex
