F.E.A.R pack

cheers for the suggestion of trying the demos. played fear, ran perfect with everything maxed, but looked terrible (dated). fear 2, on the other hand, was unlayable. i mean, i could play it in theory, but the mouse didnt work. worked fine in the menus, but ingame, nothing.
 
Yeah, the first game does look like it's starting to show its age, though I still think that generally speaking some of the textures look rather good. Overall I prefer them to the second title's efforts.

yeh i played the demo of fear 2 on the PS3 when it first came out. but i cant get my mouse to work ingame, works fine in the menus. not sure if the full game irons this bug out or not.

I remember there being performance problems for people when it came out, and in my case it didn't seem to like my 4870X2 quite as much as other titles did. Looking back I would say that it was more than likely a dual gpu issue.
 
Agh, no amount of fiddling can get this to work. I'll dig out my old Microsoft keyboard and mouse and give it a go later.
 
I was never impressed with fear's graphics.

It was only when there was a firefight and you used slow motion that the graphics impressed, otherwise it was quite bland.
 
I think the graphics were really good for the time. First Doom3/HL2 made a big jump on what went before, then FEAR was the next big jump, and then Crysis. It's been incremental improvements since then, I think.

Although FEAR's graphics were good, it's easy to come away unimpressed because they were just so repetitive - every level seemed like just more of the same corridors.
 
ive paid with paypal with 0 balance expecting it to be instant but it says its going to take 7 days to process, how is it coming straight out you're bank instantly?
 
^^absolutely that was the big issue with FEAR, incredibly bland office environments. I enjoyed the game but I can't help but feel with a little more variety and involvment from AI teammates they could have turned a good game into a great one.

FEAR is also pretty much the only single player campaign where I've been genuinely impressed by the enemy AI, and I'm not one of those people that is easily fooled (halflife being a great example of a game that gets a huge amount of praise for mediocre AI).
 
Fear for me has thee best story line for a shooter I think I have ever played. Other notable mentions for their story lines, regardless of genre, go to Deus Ex, Mafia 2 and Stalker.
