I've just bought FEAR gold edition and basically i put the disc in, the disc loading icon appears in place of my pointer, but then it doesnt appear on the root menu. Any ideas? Other games work fine.

not sure on this one

whats your spec, and what windows version are you running? XP? VISTA?

u tried opeing the my computer, and try "right click" on the CD drive and click "open" then run the setup program in there?

I tried disconnecting the interweb and still didn't work. I can click on the dvd drive and it opens to a blank folder if you know what i mean. I haven't managed to install it yet so can't click on the program...My spec is nvidia 7800gt, 1gb geil value, amd 3400+. Any help appreciated! This is killing me, i need to play it! :D Oh and i know the disc ain't defective because i just tried it on a laptop and the fear install screen came up - i.e. i can't take it back to the shop because it works!

could try exploring the CD for the setup file. I had the similar problem with Condenmed, where the autorun menu appeared as 'internet explorer cannot display page'...

try exploring the cd and running the setup file.

MAke sure have the very latest version of DX9C instaled, i had a FEAR problem after loading the latest official NV drivers. FEAR loading screen then error.
Go to the Microsoft site and locate the latest version (june i think).

Could be a problem with it and that drive, i get loads of games etc... that will only install from my DVD burner and not my normal drive, and vice-versa.

I can't explore the disc because it hasn't been recognised. The drive is not registering as containing a disc - it just reads as DVD-RAM Drive (D:). And i can't get direct X update from microsoft because i haven't got a genuine windows...............Cheers for the help guys, don't look like i'm gonna be able to play it am i!

SHHHHHHH..... :p

Sounds like a damaged disc tbh.
Try it in a different drive, and look on the dvd downside if its damaged / scratched in any way, or if its dirty, try giving it a clean...

is everyone very averse to non-genuine windows then? The disc is fine, i tried it in another pc.
When trying to help, people sort of assume that you up to date drivers, updates and the like.

Yeah, because it's pirates like you that bump up the security nightmares for people like us who actualy pay for the software! Personally, I hope it wipes your hard drive!

Looks like mine should go with it then. Not everyone can afford a few hundred quid for an os.

I can't afford a Lotus Elise , doesn't give me the right to steal one though

Just steal an Esprit then! Much like a pirated OS, it seems to be working fine on the outside, but then on the inside the gearbox decides to break after every 100 miles or so. :D
