Sorry can't find the other thread. I am keeping an eye on this game and really hope it will deliver. While personally i don't need a zomg it's EXACTLY like driving a F1 car i would veer towards a game closer to simulation than arcade I know a lot of others are concerned on what the handling will be like. Here is the newest developers diary which is focused on handling!

This has re-assured me it's pretty much what i had hoped to hear, they appear to be focusing strongly on making the game work well for people who want a simulation style game and then simplifying it if you are new or just want an arcade style racer. I really hope it delivers on both fronts. If they get the simulation end right i will be chuffed, if they get the arcade end right this will get them a lot more sales and is likely to improve future developments. Fingers crossed!!

Sounds good and I share your opinion of what I would want from an F1 game handling wise.

It'll be interesting to find out how much time people actually need to set the car up especially as in the real-world every track is different and needs a different level of downforce. I'm looking forward to being able to change this stuff but hoping it won't be taking hours or that the computer ai gets the perfect setup every race.

They need a harder AI to beat. There was too many times on F106 I could lap all the feild on hard over a race. They can't letthat happen on this game.

Yeah i have only played Dirt2 and tbh that was pretty good, overall too arcadey for me, i preferred CMR2 on the ps. They originally had the license on this game for last year, while they were working on PC and console version they only released a wii version as they decided it was not good enough. I am glad they have done this and glad they seem to be putting the work hours into this title. I think they are targetting a much more critical market on this game than with there last few racers.

Quite looking forward to this one.... Wonder if Ian Brown is going to be providing some title music, seems to be playing a mix of his F E A R soundtrack in the background..

Also nice to see they're tying to get the balance of handling, arcade and sim to cater for more players....

Dirt and Dirt 2 were cracking games IMO. I think Codemasters can pull this one off..... Dirt was also a much better game then Dirt 2 for being more feeling like proper racing... Dirt 2 was quick and stunning looking however Dirt still have better gameplay...

Wait and see....... Roll on release date.

They are saying all the right things in that video but these days there's no point in actually believing developers - just have to wait and test yourself. Now some developers have built a reputation and you start to believe them but we'll see, these guys are not up there yet. NFS: Shift developers were saying all the right things last summer but that game turned out to be a truly terrible experience. Well for those who expected car handling, anyway.

Perhaps an early demo during the summer to receive feedback for the final game?;)

Being codemasters I think it will still be more arcadey than sim.
It's not just handling though, in a few of their previous games (Dirt in particular) it was like on rails the whole time and the car didn't move, the background did :p (or that's what it felt like atleast)

They said what I wanted them to say, that they are building this to a different market, that F1 fans expect that greater level of realism. That the arcade portion must be built from a simulation philosophy and scaled down and not the other way around (which is impossible). I'm still not holding my breath though.

I think it's pretty obvious that this can never be a full simulation, I just hope that it is enough for us sim racers to enjoy.

I hate full sim games because to me they all feel like I'm driving a fiat punto with an elephant on top. I hope the developers deliver on what they said in that video and make the game more arcadey :) I definitely cannot wait to race as Lewis H pwning my little brother as Jenson B.

They didn't say anything like that. The important bit is that it's a much better method for all involved if you create the game with simulation physics and then dumb it down for the arcade mode, everybody wins.

Previously they have created a physics engine that has no relation to this universe, this is OK for the arcade racers but makes it impossible to enjoy the game if you're looking for predictable and realistic physics.

F1 really doesn't need a full arcade game, it doesn't suit it. Real F1 fans don't want bizarre physics where you can overtake the entire field in one corner.

I think I actually got a semi watching that. Cant freaking wait for this, and so glad that they're gearing it towards more of a simulation than another crappy GRID clone.

Does anyone know the limit of Multiplayer yet?

I am VERY sceptical, mainly because it is using games for Windows Live. Whoever made that decision at Codies needs a kick in the balls.

As a minimum, co-op play through a FULL season online with a friend with the ability to save is a must.

Heck, GP2 allowed me to do that on dial-up.

10 Player online races surely is a minimum?

I seriously doubt they will have a full online season mode.

The 10 player races should be workable I guess :)

As I said, GP2 allowed me to do it on dial-up and that was FOURTEEN years ago.

The only reason this game would not feature it is laziness or cost cutting measures.

Nope, it would be because it's designed with consoles primarily in mind and on Games for Windows and you can imagine the whole deal with "Achievements"
