F1 2010 - E3 gameplay footage

Have waited too long for a decent F1 game. Might finally stump for another couple of monitors for some eyefinity goodness. (Which I'm assuming this game will support, right?)

Looking very good. Loving the raindrops. If they get the handling and physics right, this will be the definitive F1 game for years to come.

I have a distinct feeling that despite the claims of it being somewhat realistic, it will be a definite arcade handling game, just like DiRT and GRID. Again, I don't think physics (in terms of car driving) will be anything close to the likes of rfactor/LFS etc, so as a definitive F1, it will be such, but only until they bring out the next one. I believe rfactor has some pretty good F1 mods, but it's not as pick up and play as I imagine this title to be.

Nice vid from spa there.

Did Codemasters bring any wheels to E3 to play the game with? From the handling on that video it looks as though a better experience would be had with the smoother input of a wheel.

Inside Sim Racing brought a wheel to playtest the game with, their hands-on opinion and gameplay footage will be up later this week.

Sweet, I suppose if anyone would it'd be those guys. Hopefully the game is ready and compatible for the wheels? The last vid I saw of them testing it with the Fanatec wheel looked as if the game wanted it to be a 360 pad. I await their vid.

Looks like it could be a realistic nightmare without any traction control on! Agreed with PESolution, I'm looking for around 90% simulation accuracy, which hopefully the driver aids will sort.

Well Codies have a difficult compromise to make as they can't please everyone. In an ideal world, the most difficult settings with assists off would be deadly realistic and rewarding, but then with aids etc on, the game should be accessible to almost all with a 360 pad to pick up and play.

Making a handling model that can do both extremes is nigh on impossible, and so I think Codies have stuck (rightly) to doing what they do best, which is handling a little skewed towards the more accessible side and neglect the hardcore sim aspect. There are other developers who are better at doing that and it's probably best left to Simbin etc to take care of it, especially since the hardcore sim racers are only a minority of the target audience.

The game should still be enjoyable to the sim racers though, after all, that's everything a game needs to be in my opinion.

I'm still looking forward to this a lot, comes out on my birthday of all days too!

Based on what? Just wait until it is out IMO or for a reputable review.

It does look quite good this. Am looking into getting into racing games a bit more. Can anybody recommend me a good stearing wheel and pedals for a relatively reasonable price that would match well with this game?

Based on the barrage of videos we've seen in the last few days showing just that. If it were a true sim they'd have wheels set up too, nuff said I think. Codemasters are sticking to what they've done well before, I see no problem with it.

Personally I use a Logitech Driving Force GT, which is a great wheel for the money and doesn't break the bank totally like a G27. Unfortunately, nobody can say whether it's officially supported yet. DiRT 2 doesn't officially support it, so I'm not holding my breath, but you can manually set it up without too much issue, or modify the registry to make the game think it's a Driving Force Pro for some menu compatibility and auto profile.
