F1 2010 - E3 gameplay footage

 do be serious. think you've had to many beevys
Think your showing up your own lack of knowledge of sim racing.

iRacing has the most detailed physics engine there is, its derived from a long line of papyrus engines from David Kaemmer which have (and he has) always been at the forefront of sim racing realism.

...how on earth did that happen? :p

i haven't a clue its crazy. i had 91fps but 50 in the fast bits with the E2140 and now running 60 to 65 going to 40 some times even in the 30's

i dont understand it, but i know it dosnt feel like 30 odd fps thats for sure. but. i have noticed a massive difference in grid so im cluless!

never played lfs then?

Yes extensively, along with rFactor, nkPro, GPL (a lot a few years ago when we have the ocuk league) and any other sim you'd care to mention.

Why do you ask?

LFS is a tricky one as it feels very different from your typical gMotor engine games and iRacing. I would put it in the huge empty space between gMotor powered games and iRacing but definitely nowhere near iRacing in my opinion, yet, above other sims.

But that's just opinion. If F1 2010 is even at the level of gMotor powered games, I'm happy and the game would probably fulfill my casual F1 racing needs. For serious driving, I'll wait for iRacing's F1 Williams.

Having said that, mainstream games have never even approached gMotor games so I have very, very little faith...

Inside Sim Racing have recently uploaded their interview and coverage of the game as well.

Bit disappointed by the ease in which they promote F1 2011 with "all the features we couldn't put into 2010"

I hope we don't have to pay the full price of another game for perhaps 2-3 max new tracks and changing some of the driver names and paintwork!

Would much rather they took their time in getting the game to the best of its ability rather than paying £29.99 every year! :(

Some of the gameplay looked rather suspect too, that Renault was driving AWFULLY slowly, are the AI going to be as easy to catch-up as GRID? I mean realistically you don't see that much on-track overtaking, the real moves tend to come from good strategy or lucky safety car (not that they'll be one in the game :( )

That video seemed a bit unconvincing, plus the people that reviewed it seemed like they were just reading from the Codemasters script to make their tv show. It just didn't seem that genuine.

I hope I am wrong though, I really do, but as with all future Codemasters titles, I will be waiting for some unbiased reviews from folks on here etc before parting with my hard earned cash.

unfortunately i cant help but think dirt/grid taken up a notch or 2. Which still makes it a pretty brain off drive hard brake VERY late pretty looking racing game. Not necessarily a bad thing mind but could lead to a very detached feeling especially given you are driving arguably cars that define engineering perfection in the automotive world

then again, not everyone has the patience/time/skills for the top level sims, i certainly dont anymore, and even when i did, oh boy did i suck. So i do actually enjoy the grids/dirts/forzas of the racing genre these days

I hope the physics get up to rFactor level as that's years old and not really at the level of iRacing if you ask me. Too bad about the still lacking force feedback, must be pretty hard to actually give an opinion without FF.

The interview gave me a bit more hope though. At least they do want to give the coverage to a more sim-oriented program like Insidesimracing, though these days they like arcade games just as much. Graphics are great but have to wait for a demo to actually test the handling. No point buying anything blind these days just because marketing people say the game is great. And this is not an attack against you rotter023, just in general ;) Now to test FSONE2009 which was released yesterday.. this is pretty much the mod F1 2010 needs to beat to catch sim racers' attention.

Another dev diary talking about cars and tracks:

Must say it does look very good in that video, amazing what a splash of sun can do. Was becoming slightly put off with all the rain in previous clips as they were pushing forward their new dynamic weather system.

cheers for the link, looking great :D got to agree on the sun.

The video does suggest that they've really taken the time to get it right, although only the final release will tell the full story :p

Really getting into Dirt2, bought a stearing wheel too now. Still dubious about this one, but going on the grounds of Dirt2, Codemasters can do racing games.

Had more of a look at this, seems really good. Codemasters racing games have been excellent recently. Always struggle with open wheel racers in dirt tho :S

Not releasing a demo then. The reviews are gonna have to be darn good for me to buy it now - not gonna risk another Operation Flashpoint 2 situation!!

Problem is, OpFlash2 had pretty good reviews while the game was one of the worst I've ever attempted to play. Even the video diaries or whatever they called them looked reasonably good but the actual game just wasn't good. Average rating 76 in Metacritic right now with plenty of 80+ scores. The user score on the other hand is 4.8/10 which is pretty accurate in my opinion.

But F1 2010 will be a really tough one. The only way I'm going to buy it without testing is if some of the hardcore sim racers actually like it. Problem is, I don't think many of them are willing to buy it without a demo either..
