F1 2013 Car launch dates

Its a team of fake images.

They need to stop stealing other peoples and make their own. They have started trying to claim Team Lotus' history as their own, which really bugs me.

The structural part of the car remains the same so the crash structure will retain the step, however the rules have been updated to allow for a 'vanity panel' to be fitted on top. Basically they are allowed to hide the step under a non structural bit of bodywork.

Its worth noting that this is an entirely optional thing, so if a team decides they have some better aero solution using a step, they can continue to do so.

Didn't realise it was going to be optional. :(

Let's hope they all use it.

... and 2 sticky threads in the MS forum.

I suspect all the aero engineers and the rest of them will be trying to work out how they could use a 'vanity panel' to improve air flow. Somehow I imagine a couple of slits in the right place will help with downforce...

I did hear on the Sky 'a season to remember' programme that because of their development push right to the end of last season RBR are behind on building this year's car. F1 fanatic was reporting that RBR may miss the first test - presumably for the same reasons although it may just be to give them more time on it.

Didn't RB miss the first test last season, or the previous? Didn't harm them much in the long run.

Rule stability for 2013 will mean Mclaren and RB should be quick from the first race, it's just whether the likes of Ferrari, Lotus or Mercedes have closed the pace gap.
