F1 2013 Testing: Week 1 Jerez

Is that a new rule for 2013 Skeeter? ;)

I think it was new for the start of 2012, as part of the clamp down on EBD's and any qualifying specific mappings that went with it.

From what I recall the cars are now locked into 2 different engine maps from the start of Qualifying, one for dry tyres, one for wet.

To follow timbob's accurate predictions, i have decided to post my own along the same line.

There will be some f1 races next season. Some of them will be won by an F1 car, made by one of the teams and probably by a driver on the current published lineup. Sometimes, one car will be faster than the other, and there might be a retirement in at least one of the races.

;)

Nope, I think this is all wrong!

Nah, total rubbish! How can you even tell that, it's only the first test ;)

RBR have never looked like the outright fastest car in pre season testing.

That's true, but what G.Anderson has done, is come up with an algorithm to calculate the true pace of the car, considering fuel levels, etc. So, he isn't comparing raw lap times...he is adjusting them for fuel, amongst other things.

You are right though.

All this talk of who is fastest etc. from the first test is hypothetical.

We will know more in the next test but the last test will show where the teams are truly at.

Of course, but in the weeks till Race1, what else do we talk about? We can discuss who the best driver in F1 is. Or discuss Hamilton vs Button...though this usually ends up in an argument.
The fun of it all, is attempting to predict who is fastest...that's really all we can do at this stage.

Well if it is just for fun then that's ok but some take it too seriously. :p

Yes, sadly far to often these threads end up in silly arguments.

They are all a lot thinner at the tip than last year too. Looks like they have managed to stregthen them up so they still pass crash tests while making them smaller. The Force India and Toro Rosso look like they could stab you.
