F1 2016 champion (Poll please)

Clearly it'll be Button doing a Brawn-style under the radar..... Then he'll wake up and have a great view at the start of the race at least....

Heart wants Vettel to win it, head says Hamilton so on that basis I think Rosberg will do it...

He finished 2015 very strongly indeed, I think if he can can carry that on for the first 6 or so races which is feasible then it might destabilise Hamilton's emotions and help him.

Hamilton seems like the best bet, but I really hope it is closer this year.

Absolutely. I want to see a regular challenge for the lead even better if Hamilton is coming out on top :p

Vettel.

All aboard the Ferrari hype train :D

This is brilliant ! :D:D

Hamilton or Vettel. Ferrari have made some leaps over winter testing and should keep Mercedes honest.

Hmm, how do you know that? As much possibility as Mercedes so probably still the same. I think it more likely the underdogs will show more improvement - well I can hope :-)
Andi.

I#d go left field and keep a eye on Williams myself

Botas was very stronk last year - just needs amore consistant car to challange

Ferrari have taken some risks with this years engine, so I am going to say that they will be crap for the first half and then good later on. So as boring as it sounds, Alonso. :D

I can't see beyond Hamilton. I thought last year Rosberg would be better equipped to take the challenge to Hamilton (as 2014 was his first title fight), yet for the first half of the season he was nowhere. He finished strongly, but it's hard to believe that wasn't Hamilton relaxing with his inevitable title in the bag. The first few races will tell us though. Rosberg needs to perform or he'll find himself out of the team in favour of Wehrlein if he doesn't run Hamilton closer.

Ferrari have been too peaky in their tyre performance for years now. Hopefully the new tyre rules will help them avoid that, but even if there are no issues in that regard, it's still going to take quite a big step to regularly challenge Mercedes enough to give a proper title fight. Obviously there were a few races last year where they were able to battle, but they made numerous errors in qualifying too.

No-one else will be close. Hoping Honda can make a big step forward, but it's hard not to think they won't be in a position to challenge for podiums until 2017 at the earliest. Renault (the team) will have a hopeless year with a shoe-string bunch of work experience kids having designed this years' car and a big step down in power from Mercedes. They might find themselves battling with Sauber, Haas and even Manor at the back. It'll be interesting in 2017 if Red Bull keep Renault power though (I've still got no idea what their arrangement is).

Red Bull vs Toro Rosso could be fun this year, but it's a shame they don't have the same car any more to get an idea of the differences between the 2016 Renault and the 2015 Ferrari.

If they're moving back to a 1993-style livery then I hope Ferrari haven't taken too many risks with the engine! :D

Hamilton.

I think Ferrari are giong to be the only ones to challenge the might of Merc again this year. I can't see Ferrari will have overtaken Merc but if they are as close or closer than last year Vettel has an outside chance.

It could be quite funny to watch Rosberg's reaction if Vettel consistently gets second behind Hamilton :D

I don't think that's what Cowell meant. He was saying their stance is to carry on beavering away looking for every bit of performance because if you lose sight of your rivals for even a moment, they'll be all over you. You have to battle on at the front as if you were the ones doing the chasing.

I think the comment at the end about Honda skews what he was trying to say.

TL;DR "We won't get complacent".

It's pretty clear that the context is such that they are working on the basis that they could get beaten (from a motivation stand point).

As a Ferrari fan I'd love nothing more than a resurgence but the reality is that Mercedes will likely maintain their edge, though I'm hoping for 6 or 7 wins this year.

I expect so. I think Mercedes won't be as dominant as they have been but they are going to be front runners at most circuits. Hopefully Lewis can make it 4.
