F1 2019 - Teams and Drivers - Who goes where?!

I think the OP is up to date now.

Such a brilliant week for speculation! I guess we will get some more official announcements/updates just before or during the Spa weekend?

Any ideas where Wehrlein might fit into any of this, if at all? He was sort of hinted at a "F1 role" in 2019..

Reserve somewhere Mercedes friendly?

Ferrari are prone to rash decisions, but Vettel out, Charles and Kimi (whilst i appreciate giving Kimi 100% number 1 backing would be interesting) seems a step too far.

Firstly, its not cheap to pay off a multiple WC, Kimi has, realistically, 2 years max left at the top, and Charles is still a risk, although undoubtedly quality.

Actually, the more I think about it, I am talking myself into it being a good thing for Ferrari!

Kimi helps Charles get his head on straight in Ferrari, then steps aside in 2020 or 21 to give Charles the reigns. Only thing is, keeping Vettel to the end of his contract, and dumping Kimi seems a lot cheaper and less hassle.

Great news for him, not so much for Vandorne, not sure it can be said he had a fair crack of the whip. I heard rumours his car was not being given the same performance or focus by the team whilst they were trying to keep Alonso happy.

Stoffel is a great guy but consistently outclassed by Fernando and AFAIK without checking, hasn't out-qualified him once this season.

Indeed, but as mentioned above, I really feel no one would expect a noob in a dog of a car to be able to extract more than Fernando with all those many years and experience from the unlimited testing era.

Alonso must have over 200,000 km testing under his belt, not to mention his *100,000+ km in race trim. Naturally it can take a few years to get close for most drivers :D

*Correction - 82,000 ish in race

I have my reservations about Stroll, but i don't think he is that bad. His racing record in f3 and other series is not bad before f1.

His F3 record is the same almost as Hamilton, 5th in first year, winning dominantly second year, but he skipped up to F1 much earlier due to the way things are run nowerdays! (Max for example)

Technically, Stroll did better than Max also, as he actually won the F3 championship for a start. Although Max did better in his first year.

He is not as bad as people make out, hot headed, maybe, entitled, perhaps, but rubbish? I don't think so!

*edit*
@Mr Jack beat me to it!

I'm not sure why you think Stroll is that bad, his record prior to F1 is solid, he's done okay in a mediocre team. In his first season he was the only driver not in a top three car to take a podium. He wouldn't be a candidate for promotion without his dad's money but he's doing as well as can be expected in the car he's driving.

Mick has matured brilliantly as a driver. if Max got a shot, Mick has earned it no less than Max.

He had a big weakness in qually, and has worked on it very well to pull himself up the grid to allow him to compete for wins.

The fact is, Stroll has nowhere to hide at Sauber Racing Point. He has had time to get used to F1, has a team that will have to be backing him and it will be time to perform.

Then we will start to know where he stands

*Eurgh, brain fart, RE Sauber!!

I do think Hamilton will end up in red at some point. Hamilton and Leclerc will be a great pairing!

Kubica has to take a race seat now. Williams is his best bet and he can make a go of it.
All he has to do is beat his teammate and it's a success. He will have done something incredible.
Who knows where he will end up after that.
