Im... confused about Sauber. They are suggesting they are in no hurry to change the name as a) it requires aproval, and b) they may loose TV money.

So does this mean we may see the 'BMW Sauber Ferrari' launched on the 31st?

Does that mean they are using a trademark they shouldnt be :D

(after all BMW have squat all to do with the team anymore - obviously from BMW's point of view its free advertising, but Im still surprised its legal )

Could be they are still holding out for a major sponsor with a view to changing their name?

Leaving it pretty damn late if they are!

No, as I understand it changing the name means they will loose the TV revenue payments they are due from previous years when they were BMW. The Brawn Name change to Mercedes was only allowed on special grounds due to Mercedes extended commitment to the sport. Sauber will need to hope they get similar special dispensation otherwise they could loose out on a large amount of money.

I dont know, I can understand why its there. The team is under different ownership, so really why should Sauber get the money that the team earnt when it was owned by BMW? I suppose its a bit silly in these situations where the change is minor, but for things like when Jordan became Midland became Spyker became Force India, they were major changes of team ownership and structure, so it makes sence for them to not get the previous teams earnings.

Why reduce the tyres in size? Surely for good racing we need all the mechnical grip they can get?

I think it was just too much grip at the front since going back to slicks, so they had to either make the rears larger or reduce the fronts a bit.

Lotus F1 launch is 12th Feb

Added. Can't wait to see the designs of the new entrants :)

Even though the cars aren't going to look drastically different like between 2008-2009 I'm looking forward to seeing them, I hope the new teams have some creative liveries.
