F1 game for PC?

f1 challenge 99-02 lol if you want multiplayer f1 i would say get rfactor and the fsone mod.

When patched up with the mods that are around, F1 Challenge and Grand Prix 4 look very nice, especially given their age.
GP4 has more of the hardcore following it appears, I've only ever had a quick race of Monza and that was a long time ago, haven't a clue what it'd be like now, seemed alright though.
F1 Challenge is nice looking, especially with the 2007 mod, and it feels alright. Obviously I don't have a clue what driving an F1 car is like but as a racing game, I think it's an enjoyable one.
The con of challenge is it's rarity and corresponding price tag... :(

Why EA don't re-release it in classic form or whatever they have I'll never know. They could make a killing!

Ask yourself - does it matter if it's modelled on Formula1?

I used to wish for really good F1 games but over the years I've found the license is generally a way for developers to make money rather than offer something special. My advice is to look into more realistic alternatives that offer true racing situations.

(edit: probably seem like I'm trying to force you off the hunt for your F1 gameplay. not the case, ginfact good luck with that. just it's something I used to look for but kinda realised I don't need)

I wish they'd make a 2007 (or 2008) F1 game for the PC...

Sony have the rights until the end of 2008, So we will probably see one more game in 2008 for the ps2, After that who knows.. Sony could buy it again ( Lets hope not ) Or someone like Simbin or ISI snap it up and make a awesome F1 game

Can't remember the last good F1 sim on PC sadly. All the EA F1 games (like the above mentioned F1 challenge) were pretty ropey but at least had a good physics simulation under the bonnet, GP3/4 both felt like playing GP2 with a graphics update TBH, in other words the physics was pretty dated for when they came out.

rFactor + mods would be your best bet I think. Or if you just want real tracks but aren't desperate to have F1 cars, then GTR or GTR2.

the Grand Prix (Crammonds) series of games had a great mp mode to use on one PC, where you could set the number of laps each person would get per turn, ie you swap turns say every 4 laps then the computer would take over and drive your car based on your previous laps performances and the next player would get their turn , both alternating until the race finished etc etc

does rfactor have a similar mode ? (i know you can play online)

Untill they make an F1 simulation which allows to have at least 10 online players on the grid to race a FULL season, im not interested.

A full grid of online players would be better.. but maybe not for a few years :)

Add VOIP in the mix and OH MY...

Imagine that.. an OcUK F1 Championship season?

I'd expect much violence if someone span someone off on the first corner after they'd spend an hour or so practicing and Quallifying.

Its GP4/LFS/rFactor really. LFS doesn't have the current F1 tracks so thats gone. You could get Grand Prix Legends if you're up for some 60s F1 action.

Flaming Sony have the licences for the PS3. Ironic that their F1 games are total rubbish. Its just like Football Manager from SI Games, undoubtedly the superior footie management sim compared to the EA offering, but EA are bigger and nab the licences first.

Now that sounds like a game!! Surely rFactor can do this? Not sure about the VOIP thought, p'haps for rFactor2? ;)

the last sony f1 game is great to be fair

much better than the last EA effort

anyway i think they dont have the license no more

i got F1 on the ps3 and i think its pretty poor.

CPU cars just knock you off, the best tatic find is to pit first lap and have an easy win :(

That and it feels like your driving a train. On rails.
