F1: Hungary

I didn't watch the race but is it right he won 'cos Alonso and Schumacher retired, otherwise he'd have been third? A bit of a hollow victory then surely.

from the bbc website:

Why would he hug the reno crew?? lol

A delighted Button, racing in his 113th Grand Prix, jumped out of the car to hug the rest of the Renault crew before climbing onto the podium as he became the first British Grand Prix winner since David Coulthard three years ago.

"What a day - it's been amazing," said Button.

"Coming through from 14th to win the race. I couldn't have done it a better way.

"But I have to thank everyone in the team - the strategy was spot on."

The victory was also Honda's first win as a constructor since 1967.

The drivers had to contend with tricky weather conditions at the Hungaroring, with heavy rain followed by bright sunshine and a drying track, making the timing of tyre changes crucial.

Renault got their changes right, to beat De la Rosa to the chequered flag by 30.8 seconds.

Right, lets have some post race analysis, starting with:

Once again, Michael Schumacher has played dirty to keep some points, this time cutting up drivers on 3 occasions and driving straight through the chicane to keep an advantage.

Luckily he was 3rd time unlucky and damaged his car.

I beleive he should have penalised, but should he still be as he broke his car and had to go out anyway?

Nope, he was ahead of Schumacher and catching Alonso easily.

Bah, theyve just changed it

No he was infront of Schumacher when they retired and was lapping a good 2 seconds a lap faster than Alonso.

Schumacher was a non contender tbh.

not at all, beffor Alonso retired Jenson was all over him and beffor shum retired Jenson was nearly 2 secs a lap fater than shum and a 20 second lead over shum

Fair enough ;) I just don't rate him as highly as Alonso or Schumacher, so I doubt this win will be the start of a new dawn for Button. More likely a freak result due to the changing weather conditions. We shall see.

i see, so mabe if jenson gets a few penaultys for dangerous driving youll rate him highly :p

Great drive from Jenson, funny really as i don't overly rate him and was talking to my mate just yesterday saying how i wasn't sure he'd ever win, certainly proved me wrong with that one :p

Glad to see the 'rainmaster' schumi get his comeuppance, overtaken round the outside by alonso, spinning after the safety car and then after playing dirty to try and get some points he has to retire, lovely work there :D

Pity to see Raikkonen crash like that, why luizzi chose there not to bother accelerating god knows but there we go...

Best race i can think of since suzuka last year, reminds me why i keep catching them :)
