But Schumacher overtook 3 cars under the red flag.Vertigo1 said:Hmm, my thoughts:
No way did Schumacher deserve the same penalty as Alonso. They both overtook under flags, which to my mind is the same offence, regardless of the colour of the flag. Arguing that it's more dangerous under reds than yellows is ridiculous tbh. From what was said (and not said) afterward, it's fairly obvious that Alonso was instrumental in the process which is totally out of order IMO. Schumacher should have had the same 1 second penalty as Alonso for the offence - bumping it up to 2 was totally contrived and wouldn't have happened had the championship not been the way it is.

Louise: "blah blah cold weather"
Coulthard: "Well it's a lot nicer to look at you in your tight tops for a start"

And of course that makes it twice as dangerous. I suspect the actual circumstances were that there was no danger whatsoever and the reason for the red flags (and indeed yellows in Alonso's case) was elsewhere on the track.Creature said:But Schumacher overtook 3 cars under the red flag.
He said he deserved a penalty but it was also clear that he felt the 2 second penalty was harsh and it should have been less.Over Clocker said:Even Ross Brawn said MSc deserved the penatly for his mistake!
Well whatever the penalities were in absolute terms, the problem I have with it is that Alonso's should have been more than Schumachers as overtaking under yellow or red flags is nowhere near as dangerous as deliberately brake testing someone.Alibaba99 said:Schumachers 2 second penalty was deserved for overtaking under the red flag, however Alonso should have had a greater penalty for the move he made on Doornbos.
JRS said:Could someone just explain, in words to suit a complete idiot (me), why Alonso gets a 2sec penalty for passing under yellow flag + dangerous driving including brake testing someone, and Schumacher gets the same penalty merely for passing during a session which a) was stopped and b) in the grand scheme of things actually doesn't matter at all?
Trying to work this one out, and I'm not getting very far....
It's raining in Hungary
With four hours to go before the Hungarian Grand Prix, it's raining.
As the GP2 field heads away on the opening lap it is led by the safety car, such are the conditions.
Following the various penalties, the rain, should it continue, can only add to the melodrama this afternoon.
As far as the GP2 race is concerned, the safety car pulled off at the end of the second lap. However, in the laps that followed several cars went off in the difficult conditions, the first corner, in particular, claiming many victims. With ten laps remaining, it began raining again.
Sunday's weather should be the weekend's best. The forecast is for an ambient temperature high of 23 degrees Celsius and a mainly dry but cloudy day. Saturday turned out a little better than expected with some sun in the afternoon, and though Sunday morning started damp, the race should be see a dry track.
