F1 on Sky

Virgin should include Sky F1 for free to all XL customers. Rather have that than access to ESPN.

After all there is a Virgin F1 Racing team....ok its crap but it is still there....

Any news yet on it being on Freeview topup tv, or was this just made up by the media?

Apparently Sky have confirmed Sky Sports F1 will not be available on Freeview or Freesat.

The sticking point for VM will be the price Sky want to charge, and how VM fit that in with their choice of Sky Sport packages.

There's Marussia, sponsored by Virgin... Barely sponsored tbh.

Saw the road car in Monaco - hideous thing it is too.

the thing is "virgin media" isnt owned by richard branson they just pay him to use the name its esentially all NTL who bought out blueyonder and rebranded everything as virgin

Yeah, the Virgin in Virgin Media comes from a licensing to brand everything that as part of Virgin Mobile merging into the NTL:Telewest group.

Massusia Racing Team are just sponsored (not even title sponsor any more) by Virgin.

Any link between the 2 is tenious at best. Certainly not enough for Virgin Media to screw themselves with a cheap F1 deal.

Yeah they aren't going to get a deal due to their name.

However there's a large following and I would hope that vm purchase it.
Even if we end up paying a fair whack more than sky customers.

It's not as bad as we thought, but it's still high on vm.

£15 for sky sports 1
£7 for HD

Still when it was first announced we thought we would need sky sports 1+2
And we wouldn't even have an extra channel with far more info on it.

Is it a chance they could show pre season testing? Or is there no video feed from them?

It will come to VM, its just getting it to fit in with how VM charge for Sky channels. They have a very different (and more complicated) pricing setup for Sky Sports than Sky themselves.

I would imagine the discussion points are wether it comes free with just Sky Sport 1, or only in the Sky Sports 1 and 2 pack. And then how much to charge for it as a stand alone channel.

None of those options are similar to the way Sky structure their channels, so there is no base line to start from. Its therefore a debate between what VM and Sky want. I can't imagine they even started talking untill after Sky had announced their channel, but like VM said themselves, they have untill March next year to sort things.

As soon as I move to a VM area I want a VM TV/Phone/BB package, so I am keen to see them get things sorted, and at a good price.

Possibly.

I'd like a couple of shows before the season starts using footage from testing showing the cars in detail, technical changes, innivations *what few they have* and even the Teams in detail, history and so on.

They're doing a channel, make the most of it.
