The last week of F1 pre-season testing begins tomorrow morning for a 2nd week at Barcelona replacing the cancelled Bahrain test due to civil unrest.

Should expect to see some major upgrades brought to this test and to be used towards the end of the week.

its 8th to the 12th :P because some are running 9th till 1th

Yeah I realised straight after posting the thread. :p Still only 4 days running for all teams, McLaren miss Thursday for example. Perhaps a passing mod can alter the title.

mmmmmmmmmm :o

Don't worry, won't look like that come race day. :D They're using that bulbous nose to test the flexing of the front wing afaik, perhaps to achieve the infamous flexible front wing Red Bull had last year.

Edit:
McLaren Pod: stranger rumours suggest the quite strong looking struts are hydraulic and move the wing to replicate different flex, the results can then be measured in order to engineer subsequent wings to flex in a similar manner. the hydr set up is legal for testing, then as RBR proved last year a wing can flex as long as it meets the FIA test

Errmmm Perez has just gone nearly 1.5 secs clear of the field. WTF LOL?!

Even with taking weight out, that's some time..

Edit: Looks like he may have jumped a chicane which would make sense :p

Vettel has just gone a second clear of the nearest rival team on a 5 lap run doing a 1:21.8. Today is forecasted as the last day of dry running so should see more quali runs and rad race sims in the afternoon.

It seems Mercedes' full upgrade won't run till tomorrow at the earliest, they just have a new exhaust layout today. Ferrari also testing a new exhaust layout.

Yeah I agree with gord, if it was just camber the wing would still be straight which it obviously is not. It seems other teams have struggled to copy RB's front wing, I expected most of the top tier teams to have matched it over the winter. I'd expect that's what McLaren are trying to achieve with the contraption Jensen tested yesterday.

Looks like another bad day for McLaren, very little action on track following hydraulic and exhaust problems.

In other news it seems Pirelli will be distinguishing its tyre compounds with different coloured Pirelli branding on its sidewalls.

I've seen white, yellow and green so far.

bet ops wishing he let Duke make the thread :D

Haha, I don't mind doing it for the odd test. I just wanted to make the thread a bit early so we could talk about it with it being the last test and the BIG thread locked.

I've actually been updating the links for timings and commentary the night before the next day of testing, so it's all up to date. But yeah I don't know where to find a source for the time sheets at the end of each day that fits nicely.

Still no laps from McLaren

They're not testing today, they'll be using their remaining 2 days of testing on Friday and Saturday.

Whilst Sauber may be trying to look faster than they actually are I have a gut feeling they'll do much better this year. That might just be because I like their driver lineup of Kobayashi and Perez though, I think they'll both be exciting to watch.

Found some footage of testing in Barcelona, from the previous test though:

Kinda wish McLaren ran today instead of Tuesday, track temperature is the highest it's been all winter by some margin. Should be useful data on the Pirelli tyres which have been run in cold temperatures thus far.

Perez topping the times not only today but of all testing so far in Barcelona.

P.S. Duke please tell me there's a place you c&p the times from already formatted, I've just done the one above c&p from f1fnatic but required lots of tweaking. PITA! :p

Torro Rosso have done 60 pit stops in the last 2 days alone, practice that is. Not just due to tyre degradation. :p

Ferrari have also done more mileage this winter than there is in a full season of GP races.

Did McLaren test the F duct last year during testing, or was it something they brought to the car at the first racing? Wondering if other teams are holding back

They had it in on in the latter tests iirc. Remember there being a lot of speculation as to what it was or even its purpose.

Schui has just gone fast with his new upgrade package, 1:21.2 which is half a second quicker than the benchmark set by Perez yesterday.

Obviously RBR and Ferrari more than likely still have pace in hand but it's encouraging for Mercedes.
