F1 Pre-Season Testing 2025, Feb 26-28

Congrats Antonelli on the 2025 WDC. I've just bet my mortgage, pension and kids university funds on him at 100/1. Easy money. Give him the trophy now. Everyone go home.

You're in the money! Actually, looking at the odds you can get, both Antonelli at 80:1 and Hamilton on 7:1 look like reasonable punts.

Anyone know if there is a site listing every lap time through the days, and showing run lengths and tyres, etc. like there were in some previous seasons? Or has F1M stamped down on all that?

I was using this site earlier for live tracking, sector and tyre info.

Thanks, but I have Live Timing so I can get that stuff. What I was looking for is a site that lists all the laps through the day rather than just giving live data. Testing times are never that meaningful, but without seeing run lengths and how times evolve through a longer run they're even worse.

Antonelli's lap time would not even land him in P20 at Bahrain qualifying in 2024.

Yeah, but that's set in warmer conditions, on a more rubbered in track, and with faster tyres a lower fuel load.

Results from the first morning, pretty good number of laps all round, with only Aston lagging a bit:

1 Antonelli 1m31.428s (78 laps)
2 Lawson +0.132s (58 laps)
3 Albon +0.145s (63 laps)
4 Tsunoda +0.182s (77 laps)
5 Hamilton +0.406s (70 laps)
6 Doohan +0.413s (68 laps)
7 Alonso +0.446s (46 laps)
8 Piastri +0.656s (65 laps)
9 Hulkenberg +0.741s (55 laps)
10 Bearman +4.094s (72 laps)

Quite as in not?
Testing means nothing and shouldn't be used as markers for the year ahead.
For smaller gaps I'd agree, but we've seen multiple instances where 1 team is just miles ahead/comfortable, and that translated into season standings.

The current standings look promising in terms of close racing.

Russell faster than Kimi already! Mercedes' golden boy is a busted flush!

Nah. Testing only means nothing if you only look at the headline times. While there can be some slight shifting of the order between testing and season start, it's usually very clear what the running order of the teams is going into the first race. Less so this year than of late, I guess, since we're testing at Bahrain but thankfully starting the season in Oz.

Compare, for example, The Race's analysis of Testing 2024 to how the season began.

Before lunch Williams in 3rd and Mclaren 8th... difference half a second.
Carlos set the fastest time of 2024 testing, where did that translate to? 5th with over 140 points away from champion.

I do agree there is some close times, is this teams being close? Or just everyone sandbagging to a certain level? Williams might be sandbagging 10%, where as mclaren 30%?
