F1 race night?

That sounds sensible to me. Do we have a published list of players or would you like to put yours up? Might help. I have a feeling the console chaps have one.

EDIT: Thanks unKn0wn

I don't use teamspeak tbh, don't usually use a mic for racing at all. I suppose it may be easier though, since the communication in GFWL is total gash.

Well that list has 30 + names. We should be able to organise a 10-12 man race at most times.

Well I'm game tonight. No plans as such so can be ready to start at say 8/8:30pm?

Sounds like a plan, I'll do my best to make it for that time. It's a shame you can't join a server to race later though or spectate, not being able to connect but still see it is frustrating. The online seems half-baked, like most of the game really. Why can't we have a decent dedicated server system like source games have? Perhaps I'm being stupid but that'd be infinitely better.

Best thing to do is organise a day, time, server password and host. Then the host starts a private custom GP fifteen minutes before the start time. That way people have time join the lobby and a private race keeps out the riff raff.

Right, all moved in with my good wheel (gave up all hope of playing with my DFP.. too used to resistance in the pedals)

Add me to steam (id below) and let me know :D

I would love to join online, but Live has only connected once ingame which was last night. I spent ages updating alsorts, opened all the ports again, changed my DNS blahdy blah. Microsoft connectivity tests are happy with all aspects of my connection but Live will not let me in whilst ingame. I can log in normally on the GFWL store program, so what gives?

Try GTR Evo or Race 07.. uses proper servers and the racing is just as good :)

Not saying F1 is bad, just the GFWL lobby system is pap.

There is a multiplayer demo here:

SimBin games all suffer from being too hard for most players. I've played most of them online and most of the servers run with all assists off. That means a wheel and pedals are essential. There are no car setups in the game and you have to rely on players uploading theirs and even then it can take ages to find a car, setup and track you can play and be any good with.

Over the years I've played GTR, GTR2, GTR Evo and Race 07, mostly online, and to a certain degree really enjoyed them. But they were always just a bit too much hard work at times and that takes way the fun. The net code is pretty ropey as well and even fairly low ping players can warp all over the track.

With this new F1 game, I can play with all the assissts off and still give it the full beans through Eau Rouge without having to lift off.

For all it's faults this new F1 game gets one thing bang on: You can drive the cars in the game in the same way you see real drivers do on TV and that's what counts in my book.

Not to disagree, but I tried Evo with my 360 pad on a local server with some assists on and were able to play fine.

Sure, you have to show restraint at times but isnt that part of the fun?

I think some should try with some guys from here though as playing it with clean racers can be VERY rewarding, even with a 360 pad.

Between GTR, GTR2, Race 07 and GTR Evo I've racked up over 200 hours, almost exclusively online and I have never been in a clean race. Even the Mini Challenge, which is about as slow as it gets in terms of top speed, the first corner is always carnage.

And like I said, nearly all servers have all assists off, so playing with an Xbox 360 controller is very difficult.

At least with F1 2010, everyone in the thread has the game, when I host all the assists are allowed and with a bit of organisation we can have a private and hopefully clean race.

I do like the SimBin games, after all I've spent a lot of money on 3 steering wheels (MOMO, G25, G27) to play them over the years. But F1 2010's mix of arcade and sim is just the right blend for me and I really like it.

The other thing F1 has is it's F1 and official, we haven't had that for 8 years on PC and as an F1 fan I have to play this for a good while yet.
