F1 returns to BBC

BREAKS

ahem... hopefully they provide the same level of coverage as ITV have been doing

They can get rid of Steve Ryder though, he never says well done to all of us who have got up at stupid o clock and Jim and Murray always did.

Hmm, I was just thinking the other day that ITV are actually doing a really good job of covering F1, better than I remember the BBC doing. Well as long as they keep the gridwalk, I won't mind too much. Can't say I'll miss the breaks either.

If their MotoGP coverage is anything to go by, it should be pretty good.

Oooooh. I wonder I they'll stick the support races on the interactive channels like they do with the 125s/250s...

“I am delighted to conclude this new deal with the BBC,” Bernie Ecclestone said. “I wish to thank ITV for their commitment to Formula One and the high quality of their coverage. It is an exciting time in Formula One and the BBC has some innovative new ideas to consolidate and expand our UK fan base.”
I don't think Bernie would let the BBC go back to the 'basic' coverage it used to give somehow... could be interesting :)

The coverage for Moto GP is brilliant, so hopefully the F1 will be better again, I dont think the BBC will make the same mistakes again.

Great news IF...

1) They keep Brundle
2) They show the build up (they never used to) and technology showcases ITV do
3) They show qualifying live for all races (they never used to - only the British GP)
4) They keep the gridwalk
5) They keep a couple of reporters running around in the pitlane (keep Ted Kravitz. Goodman can go swing her stupid massive bracelet around some other channel)
6) THE CHAIN!!

Dooooo... do do do, do do do do do... doooooooo!

You know what, I think I would have chills running down my spine if BBC opened the F1 2009 season to fleetwood macs the chain combined with old and modern footage of racing :)

They will have spent big money on this compared to their previous coverage so I expect the standard should be up to at least the ITV level. I remember being cross in the mid 90s when ITV got it but apart from the ad breaks they did a much better job vs. earlier BBC coverage.
