F1 Summer Break updates

Meant to be cost saving, but doubt it saves that much.

IMO this 2 week break should be abolished as it is far too difficult to police it and I can't believe it saves significant funds.

The FIA would need to set up a HUGE taskforce, to ensure that each and every employee does nothing which is related to developing an F1 car, during the 2 week period. I wouldn't even know how this could be achieved without breaking all sorts of privacy laws.

IOf course they do mclaren even says they sit round and brainstorm etc. It's just factory and mainframe have to be shut down. Does stop idea sessions and the like.

.

It's easily enforceable as it is just a factory and mainframe shut down.

If Virgin and Williams were competing for the championship this season, I'm pretty sure they wouldnt be so relaxed during the 2 weeks shut down.

I refuse to believe that the leading teams havent done any work during the 2 week shut down.

It makes sense to do all the prep work during the factory closure, so that the very minute the factory re-opens, the factory related work can begin without delay.

With so much at a stake, its a no-brainer.

You've clearly never done any work in or with the Formula One teams then.

This wont stop teams members getting together and having their meetings/discussions, in non-factory locations.

There is no reason why some work can't be done at home.

This way, as soon as the factory re-opens, the team can hit the ground running.

Not everything an F1 team does, requires the use of the factory.

The 2 week break merely makes it difficult for work to continue...it does not stop it completely. Those teams who want to be creative, can get a lot of work done during those 2 weeks.

And?
As far as I know that's not against the rules. Teams have admitted getting together and brainstorming.

They just can't use any resources, simulations or anything else. Which is easily enforceable.

suprised the teams havent given their engineers 'special' sheds for their gardens as gifts :)

Not on computers they can't.
