F1 Testing 2014: Week 1 Jerez

I know we can't expect too much running, and several red flags, but surely it's a little bit odd that after 3 hours McLaren, Red Bull, Williams and Caterham haven't even managed to do an installation lap?

Both Mercedes and Torro Rosso did some running on Friday as part of their filming days. Seems it has paid off for them, as they're pretty miuch the only cars doing any running atm.

Red Bull only started doing their crash tests 10 days ago, later than everyone else. And they made a 'silly mistake' during setup on the car last night, hence the delay.

Caterham haven't even launched their car yet, which was scheduled 3 hours ago, believe they have been having issues mounting their engine..

McLaren and Williams have been keeping quiet.

Pirelli have decided to make today the mandatory wet day of running and are sprinkling the track.
Was going to be Friday but as there's rain due today they've switched it.

Yup the Renault powered cars have had very little running so far.

Mercedes engines have had very little trouble from what I've seen, Ferrari have had the odd scare but seem ok.

Edit: As I say that the red flag comes out and the FI car is lifted away smoking a little. :p

Engine Lap count currently:
Mercedes 123
Ferrari 56
Renault 13

I very much doubt we'll see an F1 car driven in anger this week. It's all about reliability and making sure the teams are actually race worthy. Mercedes are the only team to have completed any long runs so far, 24 laps being the longest.

I think we'll have to wait till testing in Bahrain before we see the teams pursue performance in earnest.

Thanks for all the feedback The_Abyss :)

Good having someone trackside to pick up on some of the finer details.
Do you get to wander around the paddock at all?
