Renault look to have sorted some of their reliability issues as Lotus' second filming day yielded the full 100km allowed track distance.

He basically said "we could do without being here" and Renault got a smack talking to.

All credit to Renault, they build the worst cars / engines for Joe Public but can quite happily slot an F1 engine together. Yet when they have to build an F1 that reflects the average engine size of all the cars they sell to Joe Public, they struggle :D

They struggled initially with the V8's also until they were allowed to make some changes under 'reliability' grounds iirc, suddenly they were a bit more powerful.

I think we'll see a Renault/RB resurgence at this test and everyone will be miserable again :o

I'm hoping that there is a better showing from RBR here - I want to see them beaten, but I also want it to be a 'genuine' (if it's possible to use that word in anything related to F1 any more...) fight. If they aren't in the hunt, it lessens the achievement of beating them.

I would expect more failures from the merc teams here, temp and cooling will play a big part unless Renault have made serious improvements and RPR have sorted their packaging it could be quite a messy test.

I'm looking forward to this one.
I want to see if RBR can reliably string together a series of good laps.
I still expect RBR to be the team to beat, although it is possible that reliability could be a problem for them. Horner has already made statements about reliability playing a key part in deciding who wins this year's titles.

I said last year that the most likely team to challenge RBR will be Merc and I will stick with this. Merc are being ruthless in their quest to win. Brawn was not getting the job done, so actions were taken and he was given his marching orders. On top of which, Merc were hiring like crazy during the last 2 years, showing absolute commitment to being the best.

Ferrari - I can't help feel that no matter how hard Ferrari try, they will always be at least 2-3 tenths of a second behind RBR, meaning that they have virtually no chance of winning the title for the foreseeable future.

McLaren - :D - I think that sums up my expectation of them. They may surprise, though and create a car which is 0.5s/lap faster than everybody else. I wouldn't hold my breath, though.

At this (very) early stage, I think this year's title will be Vettel vs Hamilton, though I shall re-assess after the final test is complete.

I think other than the obvious (too many cooks, etc), I fear this may end up being a BMW. "Oh, look at how much we've spent". "Oh, look how we've won nothing". "Oh, this isn't doing much for our brand". I think Mercedes are committed for a few years at least, but then I thought BMW and Honda were too, and they just upped sticks and left when things weren't too rosy.
