What it "deserves" isn't really the debate, just people are annoyed as it has picked up a lot of fans through being cheap and easy to follow.

It's an essential part of the debate. Either the BBC should pay to broadcast it exculsively or they shouldn't. The answer is they shouldn't.

I'm also annoyed, I like it on the BBC, but there is no justification for the moaning.

So what happens for the people who don't have sky?

omg you're right. People DESERVE F1 coverage. This must be a basic human right, wait here, I'll grab my copy of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and we'll get to work on the case for judicial review!

It's just a matter of change, it would be the same with any sport. If Prem League matches were on terrestrial TV for a couple of years then went back to Sky there would be a similar (probably much bigger) reaction.

I'm glad someone is seeing sense. Please let us know your progress with this.

Waaah waah waaah F1 is the ONLY sport that is currently exclusively broadcast on the BBC in the UK.

In no way does it deserve to stand out above all other sports.

To be fair, we should be moving more sport to free-to-air, rather than taking it away.

Why are people not seeing the bigger picture here? The football fans especially.

There was a time the BBC had the rights to show league games live. I guess you're all too young to remember that. Now you have to pay Sky, then pay for the Sport package, then pay for the Premiership games. Want HD? Pay extra. Want 3d? Pay extra - although 3d is a gimmick at best.

I can see the F1 going the exact same way. The BBC are only splitting coverage next year as they're looking to give it up copletely at the end of 2012.

Plus to all the people saying Sky will bring new camera angles and 3d and all that ********, no they won't. They can't. The race coverage is provided by FOM. It's the same for all broadcasters in all countries. It's what we're getting on the BBC for free, and what you'd be looking at paying over £600 per year to Sky for.

Exactly, sport is good for the country.

Also f1 can't be compared to football or cricket. For a start those two sports are shown in many many pubs.
Also they have more than 20 "matches" a year, making it drastically cheaper to watch per "match"

It would cost me best part of £600 to watch just 10 races.
