F1 vs GP motorbike

F1 will always win!
It was wet though and Pedrosa had to let off for the corner :p
I would have thought it would have been closer, it was closer years ago when it was a superbike V Button in an F1 so this should be closer with a GP bike, excuse = wet and Pedrosa :D

Cornering, braking and acceleration but then again what do you expect for the relative costs of machinery. You can probably buy the whole Motogp grid for the cost of developement of one teams front wing.

Round most tracks an f1 car would be lapping a motor gp bike in 3 laps.

I was surprised the MotoGP was not that far behind on raw acceleration,

But I agree that around a lap of a track, the F1 car is a million leagues ahead..

I still love watching MotoGP though, lots of overtaking.. ;)

Its the cornering speeds of F1 that destroys everything else.

Basically this. Always used to annoy me when Top Gear used to say the Veyron was faster than an F1 car. An F1 car rules all with any kind of cornering involved. Plus, the F1 cars of today are incredibly restricted. When you actually see what an F1 car can do up close, it really takes your breath away (about a fraction after it has deafened you). MotoGP is fun to watch though.

Reminds me of this:

Yeah I remember that, the first time JB made a complete balls up of the start. They did 3 runs IIRC.

JB was also extremely carefull not to nail the car until he was passed the motorbike. Once the downforce kicks in it leaves the bike for absolute dead. It looks like the bike has killed the throttle.

not really a far comparison as the bike is a tuned race version of a road bike
good vid though

Choose any bike you wish this side of a drag bike and the result would be the same. An F1 car betters a bike on traction and get the launch right and you won't see where the car's gone. Top speeds and in gear are close of course but zero to maximum the F1 car should best any track bike. Throw in some bends and within 4 or 5 laps the car will lap the bike on most GP circuits. On a road very little gets close to a super bike, on a race track an F1 is quite simply the quickest thing on the planet for getting from start to finish. An F3 will kill a MotoGP around most circuits, an F1 car will embarrass it.

Set up for pure straight line speed an F1 car would murder a Veyron (and probably everything else). They simply need to turn the downforce (hence drag) down. Only the dragsters would stand a chance in a straight line, but I'm sure the F1 teams could stuff them too given half a chance.

250mph is possible for an F1 car. BAR Honda did it a few years ago. So not a spectacular speed. Though the F1 car is likely to get there quicker than most.

There are very few tracks these days where F1 cars get over 200mph (not like the old days at Monza and Hockenhiem). I believe MotoGP bikes are more frequently over 200mph, at least the Hondas anyway.

I enjoy F1 and MotoGP etc. Bike racing is always more interesting to watch. Yesterdays MotoGP had more overtaking and excitmemnt that the last 10 years of F1.

However, one lap of MotoGP is more exciting than a whole F1 race.

Comparing them where performance is concerned is pointless. They're completely different!

An F1 car wouldn't see where a top fuel dragster went in a straight line, we are talking 8500bhp and 340mph in 4.5 seconds...

For you, or a fan of MotoGP maybe, I've never watched a whole bike race, really have no interest in bikes full stop. I respect that they are fast and thrilling but they just aren't for me. There may be more overtaking etc etc, but if your not a fan of the sport it really doesn't matter how many overtakes there are you're probably not going to enjoy it.
