It would be fair to assume the same colour balance will be applied to the car. So its not going to be "mostly orange."

Only going on what I've been told. He chats to the mechanics and that is what was said to him.

Although seeing as your location says Enstone perhaps you know more.

Fair enough. And yes, perhaps I do know more :) I'm a cfd aerodynamicist here.

Raikkonen makes Ferrari debut

Kimi Raikkonen finally made his debut at the wheel of a Ferrari Formula One car this morning, when he took to the Vallelunga circuit.

The Finn had yet to do any laps for his new team since leaving Mercedes-powered McLaren at the end of last year to replace Ferrari's retired seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher.

This morning, however, Raikkonen finally drove one of the Italian cars, on the first of a three-day test at the circuit near Rome.

Raikkonen took to the track in last year's 248 F1 ahead of his debut with the new F2007, completing his first acclimatisation laps.

Ferrari were forced to abandon plans to test at Mugello, much closer to their Maranello factory, because of predicted bad weather.

The weather at Vallelunga was not perfect, however, and Raikkonen drove on a damp track.

Renault to launch new R27 later today

Renault will become their fourth team to launch their 2007 car, when they take the covers off the R27 in Amsterdam this afternoon.

The Anglo/French squad, who will have ING as their new title sponsor for the 2007 F1 season, will begin the official presentation of the R27 at 13H00 GMT.

However, the team won't only be unveiling a new car, but also a new driver line-up as Heikki Kovalainen steps up to replace double World Champion Fernando Alonso.

Renault's launch is the first of this week's three events as Honda will unveil their new car on Thursday and Red Bull Racing, on Friday.

No 'transition year' for Renault

Renault's Formula One team president Alain Dassas says the French squad's goal of retaining their titles remains the same despite significant changes in the team.

Two-time world champion Fernando Alonso has moved to the McLaren team, leaving Giancarlo Fisichella as the leading driver for the 2007 season.

The Italian will be partnered by rookie Heikki Kovalainen.

The team will also sport new colours in 2007, after replacing Mild Seven with ING, the Dutch banking group with now title-sponsors Renault.

Dassas says that, despite the changes, Renault's goals remain the same.

"Double championship success in 2005 and 2006 has earned Renault its status as a major force in Formula One," asserted Dassas. "Our Formula One championship success is a benchmark of excellence that we aim to meet in every area of our operations.

"Consecutive double championships are concrete proof that Renault can win in a demanding environment where success demands quality, technical excellence and reliability.

"We must now live up to that reputation. The team will present a fresh face to the world with the arrival of ING as our new title partner, and we are proud to welcome this major, global financial institution to Formula One.

"But on track, our challenge will remain the same: we will be asking our technical teams and drivers to make Renault a championship contender in 2007."

Renault's team manager Flavio Briatore backed Dassas' comments, saying 2007 will not be a transition year for the team.

"This is no year of transition for the ING Renault F1 team," said Briatore. "We have always said that the team is what matters, and that success comes from the team spirit that unites us. 2007 is a fantastic opportunity to prove exactly that.

"There are some big changes for this season, not just at Renault but throughout the grid. We believe in our choices, and we are confident that they will help us achieve more success in 2007.

"It will be a year of tough competition at every level. Those are the conditions that allow the best teams to shine, and that is exactly what we intend to do."

It's not exactly pretty is it...
That's a nice way of putting it! I'm sorry but that's the worst major team livery I've seen since the Winfield Williams.

Need to wait for some bigger pics to see whether you've kept the aero stuff tidy ;)

Well here it is, the World Championship Car for 2007...and no the livery does not look good regardless of where you are looking at it from :D

Looks a bit odd with all those colours. SHould have been one major colour with touches of others. It looks like they have tried to keep too many major sponsors happy. Just my opinion.

The more I look at it the more I think there's too much yellow. I would have extended the white onto the vertical parts of the nose so that it isn't quite so half and half then kept the yellow as in the top down view but run it down onto the front wing. Bardge boards and front & rear wing end plates would remain dark blue.

R27: Oh no...

Looks like two (2) cars fused together, yuk! What happened to last years light-blue? Might have gone together :(

Last year's blue was the Japan Tobacco / Mild Seven blue, the current blue is Renault blue. Same situation as up to 1996 Ferrari scarlet and the current Marlboro orangy red
