I would love Bolton to beat Birmingham (and Reading to beat City) but I suspect home wins for majority - with the OT fixture being a real hum-dinger but too close to call

As its looking unlikely that Liverpool will make it into 5th in the league, I need either utd, arsenal, man city or Birmingham to win the cup so that we can qualify for the Europa league for next year

I'm going today, not been for a like a few weeks! :(

Certainly not going into it with the same level of confidence before Chelseas game. According to SSN 10 'senior' players are not available but I'm guessing thats the majority of what we know of already.

Anyway, Hollands are holding a Pie taster, its either today or Bolton's game so thats exciting.....:p

Isnt it only helpful if Utd or Arsenal win the Cup and the league?

Or does it deend on how far you drop from 5th (lucky that Gerrard may only miss one league match with the international break coming up)?

edit

Rio, Jonny Evans, Park, Nani, Valencia, Owen, Hargreaves, Anderson are the ones that I can think of straight away not available for the squad today - As to their "seniority" well there are a few there that are definitely more squad than 1st XI lol - I would suggest however 5 of those would probably play if fit (MOwen and Jonny Evans being the exceptions for me)

Hopefully the following play

Rafael Smalling Vidic Evra

Fletcher Scholes Carrick Giggs

Rooney / Berba

I think Chicarito will get some time but wont start (unless SAF goes with a 5 man midfield, then possibly Chicarito will start alone upfront with Rooney on one wing)

Even though at home, I cant see this being anything other than another disfunctional / workman like display from the home side

No, if I assume that Liverpool finish 6th, then if Man City win the FA Cup and finish in the top 5 then 6th becomes a europa cup position as the FA Cup winner will have already qualified for europe via league position. If Birmingham win the FA cup, then 6th becomes a europa cup position as Birmingham have already qualified for europe via the carling cup win.

So if Liverpool finish 6th, which is looking more likely than 5th, the only way that 6th can be a european qualification position is if someone above them wins the FA Cup, or if its won by Birmingham who have already qualified through the CC.

EDIT :

Works out like this...

League Position - Qualification

1st - Champions League
2nd - Champions League
3rd - Champions League
4th - Champions League
5th - Europa League
6th - Nothing , Unless the FA Cup or Carling Cup is won by someone who has already qualified for europe
7th - Nothing , Unless BOTH cups are won by someone who has already qualified for Europe

FA Cup Winner - Europa League (unless they qualify for europe via league position or other cup win, in which case the europa slot is given to 6th or 7th in the league depending upon who won the carling cup)

Carling Cup Winner - Europa League (unless they qualify for europe via league position or other cup win, in which case the europa slot is given to 6th or 7th in the league depending upon who won the FA cup)

Er...bit convoluted but hopefully I've kind of explained it :)

Yeah of course - silly me

Thanks for the reminder :)

ediit - however you should never assume you finish the league where you are now :)

(You probably will, but Bolton and even their chasing pack arent that far behind you given the number of games to go)

Because Birmingham wont win a Euro slot from their League position, if they win the FA Cup as well 6th place in the league will get a Euro place as you described. But it still leaves you out in the cold if you drop one further league position.....

So City, Arsenal or Utd winning the FA Cup are probably your best bet (all things considered) :)

Lee Bowyer, David Bentley, Keith Fahey, Stephen Carr, Liam Ridgewell, Craig Gardner, Nikola Zigic, Alexander Hleb, Scott Dann and James McFadden are out

Bolton win by the looks of it.

Feel free to make a thread; I would say this one would attract a lot of posts regardless as there is a heavy smattering of United (;)) and Arsenal fans in these boards, as per your own thread.

I'd have to get one closed ;) I'm perfectly aware that I can create a thread, the majority of users who create Football Weekend threads usually get that there are other fixtures other than Man U games ;)

AmTechFox, wanna do a proper job? :D

Here we go. Now we can have a proper group discussion on all football fixtures if we wish :) AmTechFox, feel free to add to your OP.
