Fable 2

I saved at the same spot last night. I've been going off and doing them quests, the slave one is really easy to.

How far in the game are we? (Just before the boat after crucible)

about halfway I would say in the main story

slave rescue does just keep popping up even after the main story is done

story really doesn't last long. Probably my biggest let down of the game tbh

So they've gone from spending too much time perfecting the story but neglecting the open world elements in Fable 1, to spending too much time on the open world elements but neglecting the story in fable 2?

Maybe fable 3 will be perfect? :p

It's accounted for with loads of side-quests imo :)

If you just blaze through the main story then it'll be over before you know it, and your guy would be a noob for not having any experience :D

but the character being a noob or not makes not difference to the difficulty of the game at all. At the end of my run through i dont think i had a single skill above 2 star and it was still far to easy due to there being no penalty for dying

If you blaze through from boarding the ship to completion with no side quests then it took me around 3 hours ish last night to do the same

That's a shame, Oblivion had the same problem. The main quest in an RPG for me should be the bulk of the game, it should feel epic and drawn out with side quests as just that - side quests. This hasn't completely put me off the game however, I'll wait and see how i feel when i get to try first hand.

Yes but wouldn't you want to gain all the skills to see what else you can do in the game? Instead of having the same moves and magic all way through?

It would have been nice to have used different skills however the main story line didn't require me to use anything but the spamming of the X button and the odd occasional Y button to hit the sphere's in one of the caves.

If there is nothing to make you try different skills and moves then why would you change something that is working for you?

as a side note though, after completing the main story line i have upgraded certain skills to complete some of the sidequests

Im a "stand back and shoot, then slow time and finish them with sword" type of fighter :p

I can't get used to how you switch spells during battle.

Why do I keep hearing a voice saying "come and have ago at me, if you're hard enough" and "random other stuff in an evil voice" ?

Gargoyles? Little statues that you need to shoot. I kept hearing them and wondering what they were too. Thought my game was going mental...or my dog was talking haha.

Finished this a few minutes ago, and whilst its not that long its fantastic. Going to pick up a few more achievements I think then might get Fallout 3 on the go tomorrow :D

Hmmmmm. I think I was in the Tomb of Heroes saving Charlie. Didn't see any enemies. Can you elaborate a bit?

Gargoyles, you know, stone faces on walls - inanimate in our world (;)) and usually found on old buildings (to scare away evil spirits I think).

When you hear a voice, look around on the walls, high up. Sometimes really hard to spot. They can't attack you except with insults ;)

I can't find the one near the blacksmiths at Bowerstone, it's there... taunting me, but can't for the life of me see it.

Took me forEVER to find that - got it by fluke in the end, it's actually in the furniture shop. Go upstairs and to the back room, its in the top corner by the door. Think thats the one you mean? There is another one, down one of those side streets I can't see though - but based on that, it could be in one of the other houses.

There are a couple in Bowerstone I can't find too. There is also one that I can't shoot - in the room that is blocked by the carriage. He's taunting me, and I can see him, but I just can't get into a position where I can see him when I aim.

Also, it annoys me how everyone is scared and you get negative points when you fire your gun :\
