Fable 2

Bit annoyed that they are releasing this DLC before a patch to fix the numerous bugs :( new quests are all well and good but I still have ones I can't finish and they don't seem to be in a hurry to fix them.

From what I understand (when the pack was due in December), you get the patch an the DLC on the same day. The bug fixes are not for those who pay for the DLC (that would be a **** take).

I will find the list, but there was a huge list of things they were patching (including the bowerstone furniture store I mentioned).

I hope that's the case, I've been a bit disappointed it's taken so long to fix what are in some cases pretty major bugs. Seems a tad cynical to delay the patch until the DLC content as well!

thanks for letting me know though, will be good to finally finish the lady grey quest! :)

Is that actually a bug? I bought all the Luxury items from there when I bought my first naff place and decked that out, I know own a place that has all the Luxury stuff and now all I can buy from the Bowerstone Furniture store is a book, but I assume that was because I already had all the luxury guff in my place?

After saying that, what if I wanted to deck out one of my MANY rented places, So maybe it is a bug?

It is definitely a bug. Since day 1 I have not been able to buy anything from there, as have many other people. I gave up revisiting it everyday after I read it was a big/glitch. I only have the book, available to buy.

nothold Island DLC Q&A - Read First Before Posting Questions
Reply Quote
Q. Where is the Knothole Island DLC? It was suppose to come out in December but I can't see it on marketplace?
A. The DLC was pushed back until late January due to "technical difficulties"

Q. How much will it cost?
A. 800 ms points

Q. Where can I find information on what is included in Knothole Island?
A. http://www.lionhead.com/fable2/KnotholeIsland.aspx

Q. Are there any screenshots?
A. Sure, http://www.lionhead.com/fable2/Screenshots.aspx

Q. Why was this was not included in the original game?
A. Dev's have posted that the content was developed AFTER the game was finished (finished, not released). Whether you believe them or not is your own prerogative.

Q. Ok, but when is it REALLY coming out?
A. I don't know, but Sam's Blog is a place to get info as it comes out. Find it here http://community.lionhead.com/blogs/default.aspx

Q. What about the patch?
A. Indication is that it will come out at the same time as the DLC

Q. Does it cost anything?
A. No, the patch is free. There will also be a free version of the DLC that gives you a few token items, and the ability to travel to Knothold Island as a henchmen in co-op play. Although you will not be able to do quests (I think).

Q. What does the patch fix?
A. There is a blog entry here that details some of the fixes, but not all. http://community.lionhead.com/blogs/fable_2_development/archive/2008/12/03/3247647.aspx

Q. Hey I have 3 new achievements what are these about?
A: There are 3 new achievements coming with the DLC

The Collector - 25 GamerScore
Acquire all the mystery items in The Box of Secrets shop, or see another Hero do so.

The Meteorologist - 50 GamerScore
Bring all of Knothole Island's weather problems under control, or help another Hero to do so.

Fable II Patch Status Update
Published Wednesday, December 03, 2008 5:17 PM by Sam

Patch time is coming, to town! Ok I admit, that was pretty bad... We haven't forgotten about the patch that was promised a while ago, the team sends word that the update is coming along nicely. These are some of the fixed issues that come up the most on our forums or email but by no means is it a complete one. The update is currently being tested and finalized, so for those (few) of you having trouble, we're listening to you.

- The Ritual/Monk’s Quest – Fixed the issue with the Abbott becoming unresponsive if you leave Oakfield before he finishes talking. This will fix the problem if you’ve already hit it, too.

- Rescuing Charlie/Rescue My Baby – after rescuing Charlie, you can now able to interact with objects

- Guild Cave chest – resolves any issues with previously inability to retrieve items unlocked from Limited Collector’s Edition, website or Chicken Kickin’ game. If you’ve already hit this bug you should now get your items.

- The Spire (Pt2) – no more issues with ship captain being unresponsive

- The Hero of Skill (Pirate King) – you’ll no longer get stuck during Hero of Skill quest (Bloodstone)

- T.O.B.Y./Trouble In Bloodstone – you’ll no longer get stuck during T.O.B.Y. quests (Bloodstone)

- Your child - will no longer be chosen as an assassination target

- Furniture Shop in Albion (Bowerstone) will now always have something for sale

- Additional unspecified fixes

Just gave a beggar 120K so I can be 100% good. Got 1200 points lol

Just need to buy the temple of shadows now, think I bought everything but didnt realise you could buy the temple. Real estate is worth 2.46 million at the moment.

Next is to find some black dye, I did have some but it's gone now.

so does the patch include the get thin potion or does it requre the DLC?

THE DLC IS NOW UP!!!

There is a free pack, which I think gives you some of teh items (maybe potions?) and lets you play co-op with premium content owners, and there is the premium content which has the extra missions etc.

The free pack is described as "Meet Gordon the submariner in teh Bowerstone Market docks, where you will be showered with unique gifts from Knothole Island"

Both packs are 531.75MB

Downloading the premium one now.

i downloaded it earlier aswel, also is the co op fixed now?

I think so. It was never broken fully to be fair. It's just enough people reported loss of stats, gold etc for it to be risky for those who put in a lot of hours.

I managed to get on the co-op with andybtsn 2 weeks ago and it didn't seem great to be honest. I had assumed you get to use your own character when you join someone else's game but you are forced to pick from a few generic characters for some reason.

Edit: Furniture store in Bowerstone is chockablock full of stuff now!!!

Anyone played the new DLC? I'm in two minds as to whether to pick it up or not. If anyone could give an idea of length that'd be great :)

I completed the quests earlier. There are 3 quests (each one unlocks the next). If you have completed Fable 2 then I don't think these will take you much more than 1.5-2 hours tbh.

I enjoyed it to be honest, since completing the game i have just been doing the crappy repetitive quests, so it is a nice change to do some "proper" quests.

There are new shops on the island with new things to buy as well and loads of novelty items (grow bigger potion, grow thing, grow small and others).

The quests maybe short but if you like doing the other stuff in Albion the new items are quite cool.

Biggest reason to get this is for me is the Shrine of Resurrection in it (can't say more without spoilers!!)

If you are unsure just download the free DLC update, I think a lot of the items are given to you free in it (you meet some guy near the docks in Bowerstone Market who gives you stuff from Knothole Island). Also I think with this update you can play co-op with someone who has the full DLC and then you can "look" around the new island for "free" and see if it is to your "liking".

Getting so peeved off with the damn dog in this. The stupid sod won't stfu. NINE times within a minute the guy kept finding dig spots outside Knothole. Wish he was dead :/

Nothing wrong with the dog, he's a legend!!! What's wrong with him finding stuff, isn't that the idea? :p

Anyone downloaded the expansion yet?

The dog was half the reason I bought the expansion :) He is just overexcited, after all there is so much stuff for him to dig up on Knothole Island!!
