I picked this game up during a Steam sale ages ago, but only just got around to playing it for the first time. I've got to the stage in the game where I've captured the castle and become King.

I've been playing full on good guy, so after keeping all my promises to the rebel leaders I'm now seriously in the red. I didn't know I would need this kind of gold and only saved up about 20k in gold before the castle battle. And I only own one property, which I had been using as a family home until I moved the wife and kid into the castle.

So how the heck do I make like 7 million gold or more in less than a year? I have top level pie making, but I dont fancy making the gold that way.

I did the exact same thing as you and i had to resort to cheating to get to the end

all us "good guys" have to resort to it in the end :p :p :p

I did not cheat but then I bought lots of houses, shops etc. You don't have to cheat at all.

Play minigames or cheat, you could also buy loads of buildings and stuff but that requires considerably grind in itself.

That's all, there is no realistic option, the game forces you into making promises in the first place and then turns around and makes you grind your arse off to keep them.

Also by the way you don't have a "year", you have until you next go to sleep in the castle.

I ****ing hate Fable 3.

Seriously?! But it says I have 361 days left or something. Wont that counter go down day by day ingame? If I went to sleep now it would instantly start the battle!?!?

Glad I found that out in advance!

Yeah it's lying, as long as you don't sleep in the castle or finish a quest though you have unlimited time iirc, I havnt played the game since its release because I hate it though so you might want to confirm the mechanics.

it jumps down in stages, you dont really have 361 days

It cant be that bad ?

I think it was, 1 & 2 are both brilliant but 3 is just so watered down and contrived, the only thing I liked about it was the fist trip to Aurora, which I won't spoil, however the rest of it is just meh. The "road to rule" was incredibly contrived and seemed like a pathetic way to shoehorn Theresa into the game and also cut the player off from certain abilities until the end game, the stupid "menu room" breaks game flow like a twig, takes ages to navigate and at launch was buggy and exploit riddled, also combat is incredibly jerky and bland.

Oh and the story is just dumb and most of the characters are annoying, they also utterly ruined Reaver by turning him into a complete caricature.

By the way this is from someone who bought the Collectors Edition of 2 & 3 at launch. The collectors for 2 was a massive disappointment in itself in that they cut half the physical content after it was put on sale. Luckily the game made up for it. The collectors for conversely was very good, sadly the game that came with it turned out to be a turd nestled amongst the diamonds.

I dont think its that bad a game, though I've never played the first two Fable games, so have no basis for comparison.

Some of the things in it are quite silly though. Like having to hug/dance/play pat-a-cake with every damn NPC to get them to be friends with you, male or female. Also the mini games for making money get seriously repetative and time consuming. Unless you start buying up loads of property early on, you'll struggle to make your fortune at the end if you go full on good guy.

It does have some really good voice actors though and the combat system isn't all that bad. And like the guy above said, the bit where you go to Aurora for the first time is really good.

The inability to get all the unique weapons without a gang of GFWL chums who have the game is also a massive pain in the bum.

(overall though, rather enjoyed the game).

I was buying all the property as I went anyway, so didn't run in to the treasure issue (one of the key chest things is at the top of the treasure room - I spent most of the time trying to reach it by piling up cash, so it wasn't really an issue when I reached the 'year til you all die' section.
