Fable Legend + Lionhead Studios both shutdown

With the best will in the world it would seem likely they have been shut down having not delivered anything worthwhile for some time. Plus likely that Legends was going to bomb so time to cut their losses.

A blow for the UK gaming industry, a lot of good people there.

Is it, those people can go and work on decent games rather than waste their careers on peter molyneux's ego. More talent working on decent games rather than on games run by a has been either attempting to make overly complex games that fail or basically remastering old games with more fart options.

Peter Molyneux left Lionhead in 2012.

While I never enjoyed Fable and Legends didn't change that I still feel for people losing there jobs, nobody there was trying to fail i'm sure.

Lionhead never came close to matching Bullfrog for quality of games. As much as the Dungeon Keeper Series is up there in my top 10 games of all time, I cannot deny that Peter M is a complete arse.

Somehow continues to talk a good game which gets him funding for his next pipe dream. I realise he left the company but it started with him :|

Yeah he's now with his new company "22 cans" and they made that god awful (no pun intended) godus.

He really is an arse and can over-hype anything.

Was a real eye opener how he dealt with the winner of that cube thing. How many years now since that kid won the prize to be a God in Godus?

Bad news for the employees :(

Strange decision by MS as this was looking like a decent game & F2P + Cross Platform play with XB1. Guess MS decided this did not fit into their Win 10 PC gaming plan

Or nothing to dso with their gaming plan and they just realised the game was trash which it looked like on every video thats been released.

Not being funny but I always wonder why you game when 80% of your posts moan about majority of big games. Each to their own i guess.

Molyneux left Lionhead years ago....although it may be a fair point that being free of Microsoft's increasingly disastrous development escapades could be a good thing.

Of course, in the short term, a whole bunch of people are out of a job, which is not cool.

Most big name games suck on the PC. You have to look for the smaller games that target specific niches to find the really good PC games. I've only recently started PC gaming properly in the last year and I can say hand on heart that the only major PC game that has even slightly interested me is Fallout 4. Most of everything else has been a big "I'm not interested".

On the other hand I have spent hours and hours playing some really great games that unfortunately do not get the reputation that they deserve.

I love my indie and small studio stuff and was of this opinion.

But just recently I have sunk a load of time into Far Cry 4 and GTAV which are immensely entertaining.

Thing is how many people were hired by him, how much of the team was effectively trained in his method of making a game. How many of them tried to do way too much as a result of how they learned to make games under him.

The last update video I saw, maybe on IGN, was them talking about delaying the game and talking about how complex it was, how they basically made two games in one, an RPG and RTS, how it's complex and they underestimated how big the world would be.It all screams, absolutely screams Molyneux influence, as does any studio Molyneux creates. He may not be there, but his fingerprints are all over it and all over the problems that caused the game to get cancelled.

Talent with bad direction create bad games. Ultimately most of the quality people will find jobs with other game companies, maybe some of them don't deserve to find new jobs within game development.

As an aside
http://www.videogamer.com/news/microsoft_studios_site_removes_5_more_studios.html

Story about MS removing more studios but MS's story(unsure if true) is that they've moved other studios around into other groups in the past few years and when removing Lionhead logo's they updated the rest, so they are saying the other 5 studios haven't been canned.

Either way, what stuck out for me was the RARE logo, because of the background image it really looks like it says RAPE to me.
