Facebook Account hacked (Advise?)

So a few weeks back my FB account got hacked (I found out in the morning after receiving security emails from FB stating my password and email was changed in Vietnam which obvs wasn’t me). I thought I had 2FA enabled but it appears the 2FA I had was either no longer supported by FB or just circumvented by the hackers.

I am not longer able to access my account and they have changed a lot of my details like name etc and defriended everyone.

I used the FB account recovery system which involved sending a photo of my passport to FB but I’ve heard nothing back in 2 weeks.. is this normal?

Obviously I have updated all my passwords for other accounts and ensured my 2FA is up to date .. but what can I do the regain my FB account?

On a side note I do not actively use FB but keep and account open for contacts etc.

Advise welcome as it seems this is a common thing but getting advise on it is hard

Problem is FB support is not a thing they don’t even have a contact system you just fire your email and government ID to them .. no confirmation of receiving it or anything :/

Meh users are falling all the time, realistically it’s a thing of the past now. It’s dying, slow but it is.

Just forget about it, you’ll improve your mental health.

A friend of the in-laws got their account stolen, the thief used it to sell dodgy gear and rip people off; it had been open for years and had been reasonably active so none of the victims had any reason to suspect the sales weren’t genuine. They managed to get the account back after a while with help from the police.

Phone pinged a few times during the last week or so, my FB account had drawn attention; changed password and closed.

I took the nuke option, simply don't want the hassle, impersonation theft is a nightmare.

Nope, I signed up to it once in around 2008 barely used it, deleted my account shortly after, don't feel I am missing out in the slightest.

You not missing out, it’s full of adverts. I have to manage few companies social media and they run adverts. They just bombard them to increase sales and it works. Baffles me anyone even takes notice of adverts.
