Facebook chat through Pidgin!

For those that are using it with Trillian - are you finding that random messages about people writing on your wall pop up? But then my emails and wall appear empty.

Hmm, ok it appears that friends are using crap applications which are sending out spam to try and entice me to use said apps.

There's something in the options of Trillian somewhere that enables you to choose notifications, mine are all off except PM's.

Hmmm. This works brilliantly on XP but doesn't seem to want to work on Win 7 :(

Anyone had this problem:

Plaintext authentication is in fact not required and even if I do enable it I still get an error connecting.

Works fine in 7 for me mate

Bah, I've been using this on msn and it turns out it doesn't import your block list..

Delete them?

I was using MSN/ICQ/YAHOO#s instant messengers in respective cronoligical order of release as far back as I can remember, most of my contacts use them and I won't stop using them. Pidgin/Trillian makes it handy to have them all in one place.
Not one single person I know actually uses facebook enough to "chat" to them through it.

I'm always on IRC as well, good to drop in to a place everyone you know is always at and available for talking together when you can't meet in real life.

I don't stick to one basically is what I'm saying, because everyone using different things I do too to keep in touch.

Nice, I can cut out all the ******** that gets posted on my feed now, it's gone insane with this becoming a fan, and 'liking' nonsense. Lots of people have turned into attention seekers since they sodded off to uni too.

Pretty much everyone is an attention seeker at uni here, it just gets boring and consequently I don't ever post anything, pretty much ever.

I never realised MSN was a "has been" or out of date or rubbish. It's customisable to remove all the gash bits of it to suit my needs.

I have most friends on there and people are often online or contactable on it. Guess it's who you know and who uses what program.

Having said that I use Gmail chat a fair bit at work with other friends who are also at work :D

OT anyone know of a good way to brows FB at work and have the FB chat working using a proxy?

the proxy stops it working....

i have tried daveproxy.co.uk but chat stops....

any other ideas for accessing FB when the domain is blocked?
