Has he tried turning it off and on again? Is it plugged in?
Also I have virtually given up on facebook chat.. Doesn't work consistently for me either

Iv done the F5 trick a few days ago and still the same prob
As iv said i have put Ebuddy on it logs me into facebook chat/MSN but facebook chat still shows me as being offline
Iv emailed facebook over a weekago and still no reply thanks for all your help so far chaps

Yep I don't really use it much now, as it's so bad. I'm resorting to MSN and old fashioned SMS texts!
