I never really log in to Facebook. The content is rubbish.
Who was the company?
Surely the content is what you make it. I turned mine off for the new year, I found myself looking at it or posting stuff when I really didn't know why I was bothering.
My only issue is I have a lot of games I used to log in through FB. I migrated the ones I could and have created a new account just for games and the few things I want to follow. I prefer that rather than have everyone see my **** and me there's.
Is there a way to completely block everyone from seeing you exist and only see the stuff you want to follow?
I love Facebook. It allows me to easily communicate with people so much better than the alternative which is email or similar. Closer friends use it for arranging nights out much easier than text etc. Some funny stuff on there as well!
Yeah good luck. I "deleted" my account back in 2008, last year curiosity got the better of me and I checked to see if I could login again despite the deletion. I remember going through the big red button confirmation, and everything. The "in 30 days everything will be removed" nonsense, all that jive.
(Un)surprisingly everything was as I left it in 2008.
So I "deleted" every picture, friend association, post etc manually and "deleted" my account again.
It's probably still there, **** FB.
This, nothing is as good as Facebook for following events, bands, companies, news etc. The amount of posts from friends on it is once in a blue moon, as none off us use it like that. Other than one who tags herself in everywhere.
The amount of events I would miss without it. When I find out about events be it meatopia or numerous others, like it on Facebook and next year get reminders about tickets etc. Facebook is a brilliant tool. People just don't seem to realise you can customise it to your needs and you don't have to follow 6millioh people you barely know.

I don't have particularly long experience of using FB as I spent maybe two hours in total on it since last decade, but if I was to guess I'd say the current algorithm is set to show me everything I never wanted to see from people I don't give monkeys about and to hide everything from my genuine friends. And no amount of adding people to favourites or creating sub groups appear to affect FB's decision of what to present to me as daily summary. It probably knows better.
If there is one thing worse than the typical **** Facebook user who relentlessly shares crap, it's the overly sanctimonious non users who just love to tell everyone else how much better they are because they don't use it
