Facebook message problem on Ipad

Hi

I use facebook on my Ipad, but I'm not able to open the actual 'message' icon on friends or groups pages. I just press it and nothing happens.

I often used the message Icon on the right of the blue bar on the top of FB instead but on some occasions when I type in name of the person or page I'm messaging it doesn't appear and I'm unable to send any message.

Does anyone know how to solve this problem or had any experience of it?

plus I've always found the facebook app to be horrendous on iphone and ipad. always weird things happening with it - such as random posts from days previous suddenly appearing at the top of my feed
