Facebook noob

Use your middle name & surname and your drum kit as a profile picture, that way you aren't telling fibs but remember to only face to face buy or sell.
As a musician you are missing out not being on Facebook.
I run a local gigs page with nearly 5000 members and also run a local musical instrument selling & buying page.
The only people who run down Facebook are those who have no idea how to use it.

Just use your real name and lock your profile down to buggery.

You can stop people tagging you, adding you via email address (I think), not allow your friends list be visible, and lock everything down so only who you want to see your stuff can see your stuff.

That's some good advice, Delvis.

That is an absolutely brilliant idea, suggestion of the thread. It's a great way to stay true to my name yet be somewhat anonymous. I don't think anyone knows my middle name. Regarding face to face, good idea. I guess I'd have to treat it like Gumtree.

No one cares about you enough to use your Facebook against you. I'm fairly certain this goes for 99.9% of people on this forum/planet.

Just sign up but don't put your work/relationships/schools/family on there and use a random picture as your display picture like some weird old person.

I'd just sign up with your real name and email.

Don't upload a profile picture and you can tweak your privacy settings so that you can't be found by searching for your email and you can make your profile private so that no one can see anything on your profile (not that you'd have anything on your profile anyway)

Without your location in your profile no one is going to know one John Smith from another.

Plus, there's nothing wrong with shortening your name to something you might not regularly use in person.

join up to friendface instead, you can then have great discussions on the ludicrous display from last nights game, work out why wenger put walcot on so early and understand that arsenals problem is that they always try to walk it into the back of the net.

I see what you did there...
