Updated fine here via app store. Not fussed about the whole contact sync but glad push notifications made it finally! :D
 
Finally worked. Not sure if I really want notifications over emails though. Emails I can leave and look at later, and store if I want to keep the message for whatever reason (e.g. friend sends me a message with the address of his party). Notifications are there and gone.
 
The app feels a tad snappier now, which is nice. The contact sync works fairly well, though all it seems to have done is download the profile pictures and put links to the FB page in each contact. I hope this keeps in sync now, meaning if someone changes a detail it is reflected in my contacts.
 
Word of warning, if you like your contacts photos as they are, don't let facebook near them. Even with the photo part turned off, it's still overwriting them for a lot of people.
 
Does the contact sync copy all your friends from facebook into your address book or only the ones you have there already? I'd rather not have my address book overloaded with folk from facebook!

seems a nice update, and cool i now have contact photos for my address book as always been too lazy before to do it myself.
 
When it told me there was an update available - it didn't mention Push Notification - I updated anyway and when I launched Facebook the "Push Notification" window came up :)
 
What data does the sync use to gather the information - is it purely done on the contact name?

What if you don't have a contact on Facebook?
 
I wonder if they have fixed the major bug that has been plaguing the app for ages. Basically if anyone updates their status from the facebook iPhone app it will not appear under 'status updates' on facebook (any version of it).

Scroll through your live feed (on facebook.com) until you find a post that says "X hours ago via Facebook for iPhone" (a status update from an iPhone user) and then switch to the "Status Updates" feed. You will notice that status updates from the iPhone don't appear in this feed yet all others do, including updates from the mobile version of facebook.
 
It managed to find Facebook links for people in my contact list, that I didn't even know had Facebook!

I went to call my boss last night, and noticed he had a profile link under his name.. tapped on it and it came up with his profile and a "add as friend" option (which I declined ;)) Also, the pictures it adds are the small contact pictures, not the fullscreen ones I'd have liked. Boo!!
 
I've had constant problems with Facebook on my phone, really slow posting messages and updating my status. Will try 3.1.2 though :)
